Franklin Roosevelt's D-Day Prayer - Who We Are

By posting this prayer given by President Roosevelt on D-Day, I am not necessarily advocating his politics or Presidency; nor am I seeking discussion about the type of President he was.  I post this because this is a classic example of American exceptionalism.

For those that claim that America is an Imperialistic nation seeking to control the world. Think again...this is our history...this is from our roots. This is who we are.

My fellow Americans: Last night, when I spoke with you about the fall of Rome, I knew at that moment that troops of the United States and our allies were crossing the Channel in another and greater operation. It has come to pass with success thus far.
 
And so, in this poignant hour, I ask you to join with me in prayer:
 
Almighty God: Our sons, pride of our Nation, this day have set upon a mighty endeavor, a struggle to preserve our Republic, our religion, and our civilization, and to set free a suffering humanity.
 
Lead them straight and true; give strength to their arms, stoutness to their hearts, steadfastness in their faith.
 
They will need Thy blessings. Their road will be long and hard. For the enemy is strong. He may hurl back our forces. Success may not come with rushing speed, but we shall return again and again; and we know that by Thy grace, and by the righteousness of our cause, our sons will triumph.
 
They will be sore tried, by night and by day, without rest-until the victory is won. The darkness will be rent by noise and flame. Men's souls will be shaken with the violences of war.
 
For these men are lately drawn from the ways of peace. They fight not for the lust of conquest. They fight to end conquest. They fight to liberate. They fight to let justice arise, and tolerance and good will among all Thy people. They yearn but for the end of battle, for their return to the haven of home.
 
Some will never return. Embrace these, Father, and receive them, Thy heroic servants, into Thy kingdom.
 
And for us at home -- fathers, mothers, children, wives, sisters, and brothers of brave men overseas -- whose thoughts and prayers are ever with them--help us, Almighty God, to rededicate ourselves in renewed faith in Thee in this hour of great sacrifice.
 
Many people have urged that I call the Nation into a single day of special prayer. But because the road is long and the desire is great, I ask that our people devote themselves in a continuance of prayer. As we rise to each new day, and again when each day is spent, let words of prayer be on our lips, invoking Thy help to our efforts.
 
Give us strength, too -- strength in our daily tasks, to redouble the contributions we make in the physical and the material support of our armed forces.
 
And let our hearts be stout, to wait out the long travail, to bear sorrows that may come, to impart our courage unto our sons wheresoever they may be.
 
And, O Lord, give us Faith. Give us Faith in Thee; Faith in our sons; Faith in each other; Faith in our united crusade. Let not the keenness of our spirit ever be dulled. Let not the impacts of temporary events, of temporal matters of but fleeting moment let not these deter us in our unconquerable purpose.
 
With Thy blessing, we shall prevail over the unholy forces of our enemy. Help us to conquer the apostles of greed and racial arrogancies. Lead us to the saving of our country, and with our sister Nations into a world unity that will spell a sure peace a peace invulnerable to the schemings of unworthy men. And a peace that will let all of men live in freedom, reaping the just rewards of their honest toil.

Is The Middle East Better Off?

Below is an accurate and concise post from Colonel Allen West. It is well worth the few moments it takes to read.

According to Vice President Joe Biden, “ending” conflict in Iraq was supposed to be Barack Obama’s greatest achievement. But now we’re witnessing an entire region in turmoil.
There were red lines and then there were none. Hosni Mubarak had to go and was replaced by the Muslim Brotherhood. Bashar al- Assad had to go but Putin and Russia stepped in. Talks are occurring in Geneva with Iran — we don’t hear much about that — but it sure seems Iran hasn’t slowed down its development of nuclear capability — and it’s still the world’s largest state supporter of Islamic terrorism.

In fact, the situation is so dire in that neck of the woods that Elliott Abrams of Politico Magazine wrote an article about Obama entitled, “The Man Who Broke the Middle East.”

Abrams explains, “Where (Obama) administration policy has had an impact, the story is one of failure and danger. The Middle East that Obama inherited in 2009 was largely at peace, for the surge in Iraq had beaten down the al Qaeda-linked groups. U.S. relations with traditional allies in the Gulf, Jordan, Israel and Egypt were very good. Iran was contained, its Revolutionary Guard forces at home. Today, terrorism has metastasized in Syria and Iraq, Jordan is at risk, the humanitarian toll is staggering, terrorist groups are growing fast and relations with U.S. allies are strained.”

How did this all begin?

You might not remember Obama’s 2009 speech in Cairo, Egypt where Obama unveiled his Eastern, Islamic orientation believing it would create a bond, a unity between America and the Islamic world. What it actually portrayed was his weakness and misunderstanding of what the Islamic world respects greatly — strength, power and might.

Abrams recounts that Obama said he had “special expertise in understanding the entire world of Islam—knowledge “rooted in my own experience” because “I have known Islam on three continents before coming to the region where it was first revealed.” “As a boy,” Obama told his listeners, “I spent several years in Indonesia and heard the call of the azaan at the break of dawn and the fall of dusk.”

As Abrams wryly notes, “nice touch, but Arab rulers were more interested in knowing whether as a man he heard the approaching sound of gunfire, saw the growing threat of al Qaeda from the Maghreb to the Arabian Peninsula, and understood the ambitions of the ayatollahs as Iran moved closer and closer to a bomb.”

It was Obama’s kumbaya moment with the Islamic world and it foretold the present collapse we now see.

We saw Obama retreat from Iraq. We saw Obama commit U.S. forces and resources to Libya in support of Islamist rebels. Obama forced a secular leader to step down in Egypt and praised the Muslim Brotherhood rising to power. Obama laid down a gauntlet in Syria and constantly expressed that Assad must go — then when decision time came — the line disappeared. Obama has cowered before the ruling ayatollahs in Iran as they continue to develop a nuclear capability.

Drones do not stop a vicious jihadist ideology, only resolve, and so based on campaign lies and deceit, we now have a force far more demonic and evil than even al-Qaida on the march in the Middle East.

As Abrams describes, the real result of the naiveté of Obama and his rhetoric — which seemingly has no one’s attention — is this: “at least 160,000 killed in Syria, perhaps eight million displaced. More than a million Syrian refugees in Lebanon (a country of four million people, before Obama added those Syrians), about a million and a quarter Syrian refugees in Jordan (population six million before Obama). Poison gas back on the world scene as a tolerated weapon, with Assad using chlorine gas systematically in “barrel bombs” this year and paying no price whatsoever for this and for his repeated attacks on civilian targets.”

He continues, “in security terms it’s even worse: the largest gathering of jihadis we have ever seen, 12,000 now and expanding.They come from all over the world, a jihadi Arab League, a jihadi EU, a jihadi U.N. Two or three thousand are from Europe, and an estimated 70 from the United States. When they go home, some no doubt disillusioned but many committed, experienced and well trained, “home” will be Milwaukee and Manchester and Marseille—and, as we see now on the front pages, to Mosul.”

So from the Cairo speech in June 2009 to today, ask yourself, is the Middle East better off?

If you say yes, then the liberal progressive kool-aid you’ve been drinking has saturated your brain. Pax Obama in the Middle East — actually everywhere — has been an abject failure and every one of us will pay a price. That price will be paid while Obama is building his library, giving more speeches, and patting himself on the back while filling his personal coffers. And I just can’t help thinking it was all intentional.

There may have been a tenuous stability in the Middle East before 2009, but it did exist nonetheless. Now we await a potential catastrophic event. In 2001, the price was nearly 3,000 American lives. I fear the price is going up with each passing day.

Call To Prayer

This is long overdue; but finally we are seeing some calls to organized prayer within our nation. I believe it is essential to join our voices and hearts.
 
 

In a letter to Pat Robertson, Anne Graham Lotz (Billy Graham's daughter) wrote:


June 20, 2014

Dear Pat,

As you may know, my husband is in declining health. I am no longer traveling and speaking as much as I have for the last 26 years since I am staying home to care for him. As a result, I have had time to be quiet and listen more to the whispers of the Spirit. He has revealed things to me in the stillness that I'm not sure I would have heard in my former busyness.

One of the things He has impressed on me is that we are living at the end of human history as we know it. In light of this, He has given me some practical assignments. One was to be the Honorary Chair for the National Day of Prayer 2014 this past May. He gave me the message I was to deliver, which was from Joel 1...the Day of the Lord is at hand. It was a message warning that judgment is coming.

Just recently, He has given me another assignment, which is to call His people in our nation to prayer. This assignment came indirectly from a Syrian pastor through a National Day of Prayer attendee. In obedience, I am blowing the trumpet...sounding the alarm...issuing a national prayer initiative entitled 777: An Urgent Call to Prayer. The Call is for God's people to pray for each of the first seven days in the seventh month ­ July 1-7. Then on the 7th day, July 7, we are to pray and fast for 7 hours. The purpose is...
  • For God the Father to restrain, protect, and deliver His people from the evil that has come into our world.
  • For God the Son to be exalted, magnified, and glorified in His church, in our nation, and in our lives.
  • For God the Holy Spirit to fall on us in a fresh way, compelling the church to repent of sin and our nation to return to faith in the living God, resulting in a great national spiritual awakening.

If Only We Would...

I really wish people would quit saying "there aren't any good politicians". That only hurts our nation and it simply isn't a true fact. We need to encourage the politicans that are trying to do what is right!  It's on us!! We have been silent and passive too long.

Replacing Pride with Guilt in the Name of Social Justice

I hope you will take some time to watch this important interview with Dinesh D'Souza on Tucker Carlson's website "The Daily Caller". Dinesh is the author of books such as Obama's America and The Roots of Obama's Rage. He is the creator and producer of the movie "2016" as well as the upcoming movie, "America", to be released on July 2, 2014.

In this interview, conducted by the Caller's Ginni Thomas, Dinesh explains the resentment for America that Obama seems to be purposefully and successfully building. This movement actually began years before Obama became President, but Obama has been the one to successfully bring much of it to fruition. It is my firmly held belief that there is even a portion of the Christian church that has been targeted and purposefully deceived with this false narrative.

I have written about this plan before, largely unsuccessfully, I hate to say. This video clip says it much more concisely and clearly. Americans need to realize there is blatant intent to "massage our resentment" and thereby make inroads into the agenda the progressives want to achieve for America.

It is also my belief that we cannot continue to join in the attack on America without dangerous repercussions. We have a means to correct any problems with America. It is called prayer, political action and utilizing our right to vote! I’m pretty sure repentance would go a long way to benefit us as well. We need to bow down and then step up; we dare not join the mantra of the left in bashing all things America.

I'm not saying Dinesh D'Souza is perfect or has all the answers either, but this is an excellent interview and the questions asked are pertinent and to the point, revealing much of what is at stake.

Anger, Arrogance and Deceit

I don’t think there is anything, or anyone that makes me as angry, as our current President of the United States. His antics just don’t stop; but they do keep getting worse and worse.

For me, the most egregious thing this President has done happened at Benghazi, Libya on September 11, 2012. Four Americans were left behind, after early signs they were in danger, after failed protection, and finally after multiple calls for help from the U.S. Ambassador on the night of a violent attack.

These calls were ignored and the men left to die. It changed what our country has always stood for and what we have always done. It changed the inner sense of protection we have always given our nation’s service men: “Leave no man behind.”

What happened in this situation is nothing short of vile and disgusting. And I firmly believe of all the scandals that have taken place during the term of this administration: "Fast and Furious"; “Obamacare”; the IRS fiasco; and the more recent VA disgrace; Benghazi is the one that has the President the most worried. It is my belief that Obama knows full well that if the truth comes out regarding this devastating tragedy and what was really behind it, it is the thing that will finally bring him down.

Along with that however, I believe we are also seeing some arrogance in this President that quite possibly may leave him vulnerable. He has been so protected by the press, and his fellow minions that I believe he is starting to feel invincible. But I believe he messed up big time with the most recent outrage now hitting the air waves - the Bowe Bergdahl fiasco.

There has been much speculation about why the President suddenly took action to have released the Army sergeant that walked away from his post 5 years ago. Obama has said that there were reports of Bergdahl’s health failing and thus the urgency in taking firm and quick action without the required Congressional approval. Yeah, right! Benghazi was about a video, too.   



Many believe Bergdahl's release was simply a way to create a distraction from the current VA debacle. Many believe it is only about the end of the war in Afghanistan as the President gets ready to bring troops home. Some believe it was political to coincide with the end of the war, and that he would be seen as heroic. And still, some believe it is only about finally getting the prisoners out of Gitmo that Obama promised he would do during his first campaign run.

Personally, I believe it is none of these. I firmly believe the negotiation with terrorists to bring Bergdahl home is near the top of the list of disastrous things this President has done. But I also believe this traitorous scandal is still really about Benghazi! This was done to distract, that is for sure. But it was to create a distraction from the worst thing this President has ever done, and that is everything that happened at Benghazi. As the truth is sure to come out, due to the recent appointment of a select committee to get to the bottom of what really happened that night, I believe Obama is running scared. Along with that, he is also getting angry. And with his anger, his arrogance builds and I believe he feels it is time to "stick it" to the American people.

Personally, I believe Obama's most recent actions are nothing more than his middle finger forced in the face of Americans who care deeply about the way our military has been treated by this administration. The President now suddenly repeats over and over the words of complaint and concern that he himself has heard over and over for the last year.


"What about 'leave no man behind'?” he and his administration have been repeatedly questioned. Obamba has been accused relentlessly of leaving those vulnerable men behind at Benghazi due to what he did (or rather lack of what he did) on that fateful night. And now that he has negotiated with terrorists to bring Bergdahl back, “Leave no man behind” is his favorite refrain! Now, it is simply his excuse for making the trade that showed blatant disregard for America and that for which we stand.

In my opinion, this is a President that could care less for what is right and what this nation has always done. He has stated numerous times, he wants to "fundamentally transform America". What the Bowe Bergdahl deal is truly about is throwing America’s words back in our face and showing us who is really in control, as he gives us his middle finger. I believe he, in fact, wanted to make us angry and he did a good job of that. Sure, he wants to be able to say "See I care about leaving no man behind", for an excuse when he gets in a political bind. But in reality, he has taken this action as factitiously as anyone who holds the office of President of the United States would dare and shoved it in our collective faces.


And I believe it is all once again the result of Obama's rage and disdain for America.
