This Is Why... ~Hal Lindsey Report - January 31, 2014

This week's Hal Lindsey Report is especially interesting.  It goes hand-in-hand with the previous post, so I hope you will take time to read both. Please watch Erick Stakelbeck's video at the link below. It is time to educate ourselves.

I take one exception to Hal's comments below, when he states "...what's happening here in "Christian" America...".  Yeah, the quotes aound "Christian" trouble me. I simply have to say, Hal; when we are no longer Christian America we are no longer America!

Oh, and by the way, Mr. Lindsey quotes for us the words of Gov. Cuomo - New York.  Cuomo recently said in a radio interview:  "extreme conservatives who are right-to-life, pro-assault-weapon, anti-gay... have no place in the state of New York." New York's new mayor quickly seconded that motion, "...100 percent."

Well, what do you know about that?! Sounds exactly like what Richard Stearns (President of World Vision) said in his book The Hole in Our Gospel! Although Stearns wasn't trying to kick anyone out as Cuomo appears to hope.  (Yeah, I know; Cuomo apologized...sort of) Heads up, Christian!  And pay attention!

Respectfully, for those that have a hard time understanding why there are some Christians that choose to remain political, hopefully Hal's newsletter will give you an understanding as to why. I don't believe there is a time in history that political activism, first rooted in prayer, has ever been more needed.

This week on 'The Hal Lindsey Report'

Every year, an organization called Open Doors publishes its "World Watch." It includes a list of the fifty countries in the world guilty of the worst persecution of Christians. This year, North Korea and Somalia topped the list. Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan rounded out the top five.

That means that the United States is heavily involved with three of the five worst offenders in the world. Further, Libya was placed in the category of "Extreme Persecution" and Egypt received a "Severe Persecution" rating. The U.S. helped the rebels overthrow the government in Libya and the Administration helped bring Mohamed Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood to power in Egypt.

Before the "Arab Spring" uprising, Syria was known for its religious tolerance (not its political tolerance). Though President Bashar al-Assad has plenty of blood on his hands, the violence toward Christians in Syria is not being perpetrated by the government. The killing and torturing of Christians is primarily the work of the Syrian rebels -- the U.S.-supported Syrian rebels. It's almost incomprehensible to me that the side supported by the United States in the Syrian civil war is the one murdering and pillaging Christians.

Likewise, in Egypt the severe persecution and attacks on the ancient Coptic Christian population is the work of Muslim factions in the country and encouraged by the Muslim Brotherhood.

Middle East and Islam expert Raymond Ibrahim made a startling observation: "Whenever the U.S. intervenes in an Islamic nation, Islamists come to power... (and) Christian minorities suffer 'extreme persecution.'"

The "Arab Spring" has turned out to be one of the great disasters of human history, yet there seems to be no accountability. The U.S. pours billions of dollars into these countries or into the opposition forces, yet seems to have no influence with them or refuses to use it on behalf of any persecuted Christians.

Why do we empower forces hostile to Christianity when those forces are also inevitably hostile to all things western, especially the United States? As a nation, we are destroying ourselves -- and allowing the destruction of millions of others -- with the notion that Christianity and Islam are essentially the same.

Not only is this idea false, it's deadly.

Just as alarming as America's unwitting support of Christian persecution around the world is the immediate prospect of that same persecution coming to the one nation that all the world describes as "Christian." But, then, it's hardly surprising to see the rise of corruption when the best influence to the contrary -- the Bible -- is being discarded as if it were a deadly infection.

Recently, New York's governor Andrew Cuomo told a radio interviewer that "extreme conservatives who are right-to-life, pro-assault-weapon, anti-gay... have no place in the state of New York." New York's new mayor quickly seconded that motion, "...100 percent."

Cuomo later tried to walk that statement back by saying that he meant the extremists had no place in New York politics. But two of the three issues he mentioned are moral issues, not political ones. If you're a conservative and/or a Christian living in New York, you're probably starting to feel a little unappreciated about now.

But don't be distressed if you are pro-traditional marriage, pro-life, and even pro-Jesus, because the hatred you're beginning to feel from the world is not directed at you. It's a hatred of Jesus Christ. In fact, Jesus Himself warned that this would happen in these last days. He said, "If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you ... because you are not of this world... therefore the world hates you ... If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you." (John 15:18-20)

American Christians are surely headed toward dark days of persecution. I believe this will start as a general dismissal of our claims (which are the claims of Christ) by the society at large. We are already beginning to feel the discomfort that comes with the ridiculing of what we believe by academia, the media, and big government. It will then move through marginalization to recrimination to discrimination to ostracization to criminalization. Once Christian behavior and thought are "criminalized," Christianity can then be effectively and finally removed from the society by the removal of Christians from that society.

You don't think that can happen? It's already happening to our brothers and sisters in other parts of the world.

You don't think that can happen in America? The process has been at full throttle for at least a generation. And this week, I'll give you a few examples of how, right here in the good old USA, Christians are increasingly not welcome in school, in the military, in the media, in business, in government, and even in public.

Of course, there is no way I can even begin to scratch the surface of what's happening here in "Christian" America in one half-hour program, but I believe you will be stunned when you begin to consider how rapidly major changes are happening. Changes thought impossible just a few decades ago. Changes that were foretold by the ancient Bible prophets.

Hal Lindsey

Know Your Enemy

I read with rapt interest both of Erick Stakelbeck's books, The Terrorist Next Door, and The Brotherhood.

Without a doubt, he is probably one of the number one experts on terror. His passion is remarkable in his writings, but the passion he reveals in the interview below will entice you to learn more and inspire you to action. At least it should.

I don't think there is anything that frustrates me more than those 9/11 Truther groups that want to blame 9/11 on America or even on the nation of Israel...good grief!! Really????

Above all, we should know our enemy. Erick Stakelbeck does! Please take the time to watch this discussion below. Mr. Stakelbeck covers a wealth of information that must be shared.

A Call for a Select Committee!

An important message from Secure America Now:

For many months, Secure America Now has advocated for a Select Committee to investigate Benghazi.
To date, no one has been brought to justice, some witnesses have yet to testify, and most important, the American people have never been told the truth about the events that lead to the death of four American citizens serving our country abroad.

Congressman Wolf once again makes an extremely compelling case for why this committee needs to be created.

Please read this letter and contact Speaker Boehner demanding that he side with the 180 members of the House or Representatives who are calling for this committee.

The current process is not working. Contact Speaker Boehner today.

United We Stand

Below is Mike Huckabee's most recent newsletter. He brilliantly covers the topic of party infighting. I have tried covering that topic myself, but the former governor does it so much better. I have felt that we needed a leader on this subject for some time - since 2008, actually -  and I am glad Gov. Huckabee has stepped up to the plate. It is imperative this message get out before the next election.  One would think it would be common sense, but it seems much of that is lacking these days.

I am not saying Gov. Huckabee is perfect. None of us are.  But it is high time we found those with whom we are most closely aligned and bring out the wisdom in their message. The problems within the party can come to the forefront later to be worked upon within the confines of our exceptional system - like mature adults, not bickering children!

Governor Huckabee's thoughts are excellent. It is interesting to me to note, one of the politicians whose supporters were the first to use the label RINO back in 2008, is the politician who also admitted he only ran on the Republican ticket because he felt it was the only way he could win. Doesn't take a lot of common sense to figure out then, who would be the real RINO. But I digress, I actually do agree with Huck; we need to get rid of that term!!

As for Mike Huckabee, looks to me "like he is going somewhere"! Onward!!

RINO

There’s one thing standing in the way of Republicans adding to their majority in the House and releasing the Senate from the grasp of Harry Reid and his Democrat foils—and it’s other Republicans.

Jesus said “A house divided against itself cannot stand,” and neither Jesus’s statement nor Obamacare have been repealed. With the jobless rate continuing to keep many able Americans from finding enough work to pay their bills, with our overall economy only favoring those well connected to Washington or Wall Street, and our standing in the world decimated by bungled policies, and embarrassing mistakes like getting caught spying on foreign leaders, 2014 should be a record year for the GOP. But if something doesn’t change, it will be a disaster and we actually run the risk of seeing Nancy Pelosi back in the Speaker’s chair.

Republicans shouldn’t allow the party’s process to be hijacked by the big bucks advertising campaigns which don’t target liberals, but provide the weapons of fratricide so conservatives can slice other conservatives to pieces rather than focus on the real contrasts with leftists.

Those who blame the Tea Party for this are misguided. The Tea Party is a movement, not a structured organization, and as such has rightfully helped the Republican party refocus on the perils of spending money we don’t have and borrowing money we can’t afford to pay back. It’s the infighting, and the back biting, and the wounds from those who ought to be our friends that will hurt us most. When Republicans spend time and money to tear down other Republicans rather than to build up the country, why would we expect people to want to vote for us? People want to be led by someone who looks like he’s going somewhere, not someone who looks like he’s sorry he’s been.

We asked you to offer your thoughts on FB and Twitter as to how the Republican party should go forward and you surely did. Many of you used a term that I’d like to see outlawed from the vernacular of the party---RINO. It stands for Republicans in Name Only, and it’s a pejorative term that questions the authenticity and orthodoxy of someone’s party purity. One of our Tweets from Bettina Flowe said to me, “Get rid of all of the RINOS---including YOU….”For one to imply that he or she is more pure a Republican than someone else must is to assert that one individual has either been given or has taken the role of keeper of the kingdom.

With all due respect, I’ve fought in the trenches of Republican politics for over 2 decades, but I wouldn’t pretend that I’m Lord over determining who the real Republicans are vs. the so-called RINOS.

I think Wendy Harris has it right—here’s what she posted: They all need to be on the same page fighting the same fight for " WE THE PEOPLE". Get rid of all who don't or won't….Jayne Gladden also expressed real common sense when she posted “Stand together! A house divided against itself cannot stand... and a Party divided cannot win..” and Raymond Davis sent this message to us: “Quit beating on each other through all the ridiculous debates. We need to be the world leader respected by other leaders and really secure our borders and stop rewarding those here illegally. The most important thing, tell the truth and get our house in order.”

Our thanks to all who sent in comments, but one thing ought to be certain—someone who agrees with me 90% of the time is not my enemy.

If factions within the Republican party insist on spending time and money to attack other Republicans, I wonder if they want to win elections and save the country, or just proudly boast to their party pedigree. I’d rather have a loyal dog who licks me than one with a pedigree who bites me. I’d rather go to battle with someone who isn’t perfect than with someone who thinks he is.

Take a Stand

From ACLJ:

It's time to side with Israel, against jihad.

Hezbollah, a terror group, is smuggling in advanced missiles that would pose a dangerous new threat to the Israeli people.

The Palestinian Authority, including its terrorist partner Hamas, refuses to even acknowledge that Israel has a right to exist.

Yet Secretary of State John Kerry has been in Israel, pressuring Israel to make deals with terrorists.

Once again the Obama Administration gets it wrong.

Israel has a right to exist, and there should be no "deal" until the Palestinians recognize this fact.

Now is the time to stand with Israel. Sign our crucial new petition today.

Defend Israel and say No to a Deal with Terrorists.

ACLJ Chief Counsel
