Heads Up from Hal

September 23rd, 2016

No, you're not experiencing deja vu. Yes, you found this message from me in your mailbox last week.

You are receiving it again because last week, due to circumstances beyond our control, the delivery of this scheduled program to our various broadcast partners was interrupted.

So we are presenting that edition of "The Hal Lindsey Report" this week. I thought you should be reminded of what this week's program will cover. So here we go again.

Well, maybe that is just a little deja vu!

ON THIS WEEK'S "HAL LINDSEY REPORT":

The mainstream media barely mentioned it. They're preoccupied with the presidential campaigns.

And besides, the United Nations Security Council has met before in emergency session to discuss North Korea -- and nothing happened. How was the emergency session on September 9 any different?

It's true. North Korea and its weapons testing has been the subject of past UN Security Council meetings. And though official action has been adopted, nothing of any great consequence has ever resulted.

But North Korea's most recent weapons testing is different for a couple of reasons. First, the nuclear devices NK exploded a few days ago were more powerful than anything they've tested before. Probably because the North Koreans claim to have developed hydrogen bombs.

Second, it now appears that North Korea has achieved the capacity -- or will soon have it -- to mount these weapons on ballistic missiles.

This point is critical because earlier in the same week, they also successfully launched three medium-range missiles. Those missiles traveled more than 600 miles. That puts South Korea, Japan, and parts of China within reach.

Maybe that's why China acknowledged that the North Korean tests "shocked the world."

To further complicate matters, just a few weeks ago, North Korea successfully launched submarine-based ballistic missiles. That puts every coastal city in the world at risk.

And even though the left-leaning media tries to imply that North Korea is isolated from the world and poses no real threat, that's simply not true. Iran and NK have been partners in crime since the Iranian Revolution of 1979. And Pakistan furnished the expertise to help NK build the nuclear devices.

Further, The Korea Times is reporting that last May North Korea and Cuba started holding talks to strengthen their friendship.

What does this mean for the United States and the world? Well, North Korea is starving for cash (its people are literally starving), but they have weapons of mass destruction. And thanks to President Obama, Iran is newly flush with cash and desperate for those weapons of mass destruction. That's a marriage made in hell.

But that's just one possibility. Under President Obama's leadership, the world has experienced the worst nuclear proliferation ever. Nations that had never pursued nuclear weapons before are now active customers in the nukes market. Japan and South Korea will probably start their own nuclear weapons programs as a deterrent to North Korea.

Since the west has decided to allow Iran to join the nuclear club soon, other nations in the Middle East are actively shopping for places to purchase nuclear arsenals as a deterrent to the neighborhood bully. We're not just seeing a proliferation of these weapons, but an explosion of them.

You know, this all started back in 1994 when then President Bill Clinton decided to humor North Korea and make his own toothless "nuclear deal" with them. They promptly accepted all the goodies from the US, then reneged on the deal and proceeded to develop their own weapons.

Sound familiar? Foreign policy blunders live on well beyond the President who made them.

But none of this surprises students of Bible prophecy. In several passages, the Bible depicts future events that are eerily (and accurately) descriptive of nuclear warfare.

That's just another way we're seeing the whole world take the shape foretold by the ancient Bible prophets thousands of years ago.

Other interesting things are happening in Asia, as well.

The G-20 Summit was recently held in Hangzhou, China. President Obama attended, along with at least 19 other world leaders. But when he arrived aboard Air Force One, the Chinese hosts didn't bother to lay out the red carpet.

They didn't even roll the mobile stairway up to the door of the President's plane. He was forced to exit the plane by the built-in rear stairwell.

Further, on the tarmac, Chinese officials were rude to high-ranking members of the American delegation and some in the US press contingent.

Not a nice way to treat your largest customer. But China is obviously piqued at the US or at President Obama.

Probably because China wants to claim all of the South China Sea as its own and the rest of the world won't agree to it. Not the rest of the nations in the area. Not the United Nations. Not the World Court at The Hague. And especially not the United States.

In fact, in March President Obama specifically warned Chinese leader Xi Jinping not to build military installations on the Scarborough Shoal in the South China Sea, near the Philippines. But they're doing it anyway.

So the United States and its allies have been sending warships into the international waters near China and warplanes to fly close to China's airspace. All in an effort to emphasize that these are international lanes of commerce and China is not going to claim them and control them.

China isn't pleased. And they're not happy about President Obama's so-called "Asia Pivot." That means he sees America's future as aligned less with Europe and the Middle East and more with Asia.

Partly because the markets there are growing so fast. And partly because we want to rein in Asia's growing menace -- China.

Most observers believe that China refuses to stop North Korea from its madcap dash to nuclear capability so that it will continue to keep that part of the world off-balance and in turmoil. That distracts the rest of the world from the ferocious pace of China's drive to hegemony in Asia.

Whatever is really happening there, it is definitely worth watching. China has enormous wealth and technical expertise. China is aggressive and often hostile. And China figures prominently in the Bible prophecies about the "Kings of the East" in the last days.

As does Russia, of course. And it has gotten even more intriguing since my last program. See how quickly things are unfolding in the end-times scenario?

Last week, we learned that Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas was on the KGB payroll in the 1980s. As was Russian President Vladimir Putin. Abbas's code name was "Mole."

The information was discovered in a British archive of KGB agents from that period. Though the Palestinian Authority is trying to deny it, it makes sense. Abbas headed a Palestinian-Soviet friendship foundation during that time.

And now that the US is turning away from involvement in the Middle East and focusing on Asia, many people are pushing for Russia to become the new broker for peace between Israel and the Palestinians.

A Hollywood screenwriter couldn't construct this intricate a plot, but the Bible's ancient prophets did. And they did it thousands of years ago.

Couple this bizarre turn of events with the alarming rise of antisemitism across Europe and into the Middle East and it's undeniable that the pace is quickening.

Recently, Israel's Ambassador to the United Nations noted that hatred of Jews and the demonization of Israel has reached "the highest level of our lifetimes."

Again, just as the Bible predicted.

Folks, if you have never accepted the forgiveness of sin that Jesus Christ purchased with His death on the cross, NOW is the time to do it. The race to the end is accelerating as never before. Time is short. It cannot be too long before Jesus will return to snatch away the true believers of this earth. You do not want to be left behind.

This week, I am going to discuss "Redemption" and show you how you can be ransomed and released from the "Certificate of Debt" that hangs outside your cell door. There is only one way out. You must be "redeemed." And only one Man can do it for you.

America IS a Christian Nation!

This week's Hal Lindsey Report is posted below. As always. it is timely and true. I hope you will take a moment to read what Mr. Lindsey has to say.

Especially important to me is the fact Lindsey encourages us to understand that America IS a Christian nation. There are many, including our president, that want to rip that title from us. They must not succeed. Read the facts as Hal Lindsey presents them and determine to understand why it is so very important.

Surely there are some things worth fighting to protect. Our title of "Christian nation" is one.

This week on 'The Hal Lindsey Report'
My friend, the late Paul Crouch, used to chide me about the title of my book, "Satan is Alive and Well on Planet Earth." He said I gave the devil too much credit. Paul would say, "He's alive, but he's not well."

He said it in a good-natured way and I was never offended. I also knew he was making a serious point. Satan is a defeated enemy. He's headed for hell, a place created specifically for him and his cohorts. It is Satan's destiny to bow down before Jesus Christ, and to confess that Jesus is Lord.

But, until then, Satan has a major role in God's plan.

When I wrote "Satan is Alive and Well on Planet Earth" back in 1972, college campuses were buzzing with "spirituality." Their mantra seemed to be: "All that is spiritual is good, except for Biblical Christianity."

The Church of Satan had been founded in San Francisco just six years earlier. "The Exorcist," one of the biggest box office hits of all time, was about to arrive on the scene.

There is an ebb and flow to these things, but over the forty years since that time, the world has continued its dramatic move toward spiritual darkness. The secret rituals of yesteryear have given way to a new open emphasis on Satan. A few months ago, I told you about Katy Perry's Grammy Awards performance. She performed what appeared to be a Satanic ritual. In fact, some who were present insist she summoned Satan onto the stage! Today, it seems there's a new competitiveness among entertainers to each be more evil than the other.

What attracts men to Satan? It's called the "sin nature," something all human beings must confront. The problem today is that Satan can be influential enough when he's not seen, but when he's made the center of things, he can be downright devastating.

How bad can it get? In the Old Testament, when the people had turned fully from God, they came to the point of sacrificing their own children to their new demon gods. (Jeremiah 7:30-31) It's hard to imagine such a thing happening in America. But in those same forty-odd years since my book came out, Americans have sacrificed more than 54 million children on the altar of promiscuity and convenience.

Back in 1972 when I said Satan was alive and well, I was right. In 2014, he's still alive and, in every measurable way, he's become an even bigger success in the intervening years. But Paul Crouch was right, too. Satan is a defeated foe. His doom is sure.

Contrary to what President Obama declared in his speech to the Turkish parliament a few years ago, America IS a Christian nation. Just ask the CIA! At the time, the CIA World Factbook gave the stats to prove that the United States is the most Christian country on earth. Now that's information compiled from strictly secular census data, not based on the Biblical definition of a Christian. But it doesn't really matter to the rest of the world. They have no problem identifying America as the world's representative Christian nation. That's why the Muslims see a giant bull's eye when they look at the United States. (And it probably doesn't help when they watch American television and movies and see us portrayed as rich, greedy, lascivious, lazy, moronic, self-centered, foul-mouthed, sex-obsessed, and gender-bending perverts!)

However, as authentically Christian as it really is, America doesn't seem to be present in the prophecies of the Tribulation period. The Apostle Paul offers perfect descriptions of a declining, self-imploding society (America?) in the run-up to the Tribulation, but it seems to be absent from the action of that terrible time. The Apostle John even describes the modern church in his depiction of the church at Laodicea. But there's no America having an impact on the Tribulation scenario. Why? I'll discuss possible explanations this week.

Finally, I'll take a few moments to remind all of us that, no matter how confusing or threatening or frightening the future appears, we are of all men the most blessed because we have hope -- a blessed hope!

Except the Lord Build the House

Below is another excellent testimony from Hal Lindsey. I, too, remember most of the events he remembers, though I am a tad bit younger.

I remember, just after "the malaise of Jimmy Carter" the election of President Reagan offered us a new direction. I will never forget the sense of hope we then realized as a nation. One could literally feel the change from apathy or disgust, to an atmosphere of encouragement and life. Not only did President Reagan give us strong leadership, he reminded us we were still "a shining light on a hill" - a real hope for a hurting world. He did this not only through his strong leadership, but also by reminding us of the God we serve and that it is He who is the true Founder of our nation.

Hal Lindsey could not be more right in his commentary below: We are trying to succeed without God. But along with that, I also believe Americans have grown weary of the continual attack and belittling of our nation. That attitude elicits no hope and only brings discouragement.

The quote President Reagan used to encourage Americans is from Matthew 5:14. "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden." Our past can remind us there are better days if we indeed find our way back to our roots.

Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.  ~Psalm 33:12-22 KJV

Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.
~Proverbs 14:34 KJV

And I like that Mr. Lindsey, used the same verse that I have chosen to show my hope for my blog:

“Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.”
~Psalm 127:1  KJV

This week on 'The Hal Lindsey Report'

I have a birthday coming soon and I've been thinking about my life and the times in which I've lived.

I was born just days after Black Tuesday, the day of the most devastating stock market crash in U.S. history. I grew up during the Depression and the lean years that followed. In fact, it was not until my 25th birthday that the stock market again reached its peak level from 1929.

I remember the Dust Bowl and what life here was like during World War Two, the biggest, deadliest conflict in human history.

I remember the start of the Cold War. I served in the Coast Guard during the Korean conflict.

I lived through the Cuban missile crisis, the Kennedy assassination, the Viet Nam war, and the counter-culture rebellion of the 60s and 70s. I worked on American college campuses during some of those tumultuous years.

I remember the Arab oil embargo, Watergate, the Nixon resignation, the malaise of Jimmy Carter, and the terror of 9/11. But through all of that, the American people seemed never to lose their sense of optimism. That is, until now.

In a recent Fox News Poll, a staggering 58% of Americans polled thought that "the way things are going" could best be described by the phrase: "Things are going to hell in a handbasket."

Americans today share a sense of doom that they just can't seem to shake. So what makes our time different?

Is it the Ebola outbreak? So far, only one person has died in the U.S. and only two people have contracted it here. On the other hand, 1,500 Americas die each day from cancer.

Is it ISIS? The small terrorist army is unsettling, and even though they've vowed to fly their flag over the White House, they're a long way from being able to carry out that threat.

Is it Vladimir Putin? He's been doing a lot of saber-rattling lately. His bombers are probing ours and NATO's defenses. He's engaged in a slow-motion takeover of chunks of Eastern Europe. He's irritated because Western sanctions are beginning to bite and he's started making veiled threats about nuking those who oppose Russia.

When an insulated sociopath who controls 10,000 nuclear weapons publicly insinuates that he might use them, it's worth taking notice.

But I don't think Americans really believe him. So I don't think that's why they seem to be feeling this sense of doom. I think that, deep down, most Americans know that our nation's true strength is her morality and they sense that America's moral base is crumbling.

A few weeks ago, I discussed Psalm 127:1 and how it applies to the United States today: "Unless the Lord builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the Lord guards the city, The watchman keeps awake in vain."

That's what America 2014 feels like. It feels like there's a hole in our boat. We bail and bail, but the water in the boat only gets deeper. Things don't work like they used to work. Everything seems upside down.

Why? I think it's because we're trying to succeed without God.

As individuals and as a nation, we have the ability to reject the presence and fellowship of the Lord, but we do not have the ability to achieve real and lasting success without Him.

Until we patch that hole in our boat, we're bailing desperately, but in vain.

One True Hope

 Another interesting newsletter from Hal Lindsey.

October 10th, 2014
This week on 'The Hal Lindsey Report'
Ebola, ISIS, and Israel, three names you probably heard on last night's newscast -- no matter what channel you watched.

Ebola, ISIS, and Israel, three names you'll hear if you watch my television program this week. Not just because they're three of the hottest stories in the news, but because I believe each has a significant role in the end-times scenario.

In chapter 21, Luke quotes Jesus as saying that in the last days, "there will be famines and pestilences." The Greek word used here and translated "pestilences" refers to both virulent plagues and pests. It fits a variety of outbreaks we've seen across the world in recent years, even months, including the bizarre monkey infestation in New Delhi, India, the AIDS pandemic, and now Ebola.

The Washington Post reports that, "The virus could potentially infect 1.4 million people in Liberia and Sierra Leone by the end of January." That's just over three months, folks. Recently, Dr. David Nabarra, the United Nations Special Envoy overseeing its efforts to combat Ebola said, "This is a disease outbreak that is advancing in an exponential fashion."

Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines "exponential growth" as "characterized by or being an extremely rapid increase." Jesus described the signs of His return as being like a pregnant woman's "birth pangs," meaning that they would increase in frequency and intensity as the day approaches.

I'm no rocket scientist, but I'm thinking those two descriptions are eerily similar. And lest we think the Atlantic and Pacific oceans protect America from this deadly pestilence, America's first Ebola death occurred just this past week -- and even now scores of people who had some contact with this one man, Thomas Eric Duncan, are either in quarantine or are being "observed" for symptoms.

Modern transportation, global commerce, and politically correct national leaders guarantee that America is, indeed, no longer immune to the ravages of this modern-day scourge, or any of a variety of other pandemics.

Speaking of scourges, is there any other way to describe ISIS or any of its burgeoning network of "affiliates?" Yes, there is. You've heard me say it many times before: demonic! These terrorist demons are committed to destroying anything that stands in the way of an Islamic Caliphate. That includes all secular or apostate Muslims, all Christians, all Jews, Israel, and the United States.

So how do any or all of the above targets successfully combat this demonic, Islamic scourge? Here's a hint: Don't do what this administration (and most of the west) is doing. Infrequent, nighttime-only airstrikes of non-essential targets will not get the job done.

Only when our leaders are compelled to recognize and actually acknowledge who the enemy is, then commit as completely to destroying them as as they're committed to destroying us, do we have any hope of defeating them.

Oh yeah, as in the case of Ebola, don't be misled into thinking ISIS cannot pose a danger to Americans. Its influence on our shores has already been felt. A few days ago, a grandmother in Moore, Oklahoma, became its first victim.

Did you ever believe you'd hear me say these words? Islamic beheadings have come to America.

Of course, it doesn't help to have national leadership that can look at all the crises enveloping the world and our nation and decide that the issue that needs to be urgently addressed is Israel's decision to build 2,500 apartments in Jewish neighborhoods of East Jerusalem.

First, it's none of our business. Second, we'd never tolerate another nation attempting to dictate where or how we provide housing and comfort for our own citizens. Here's a scary thought: A nation's survival often depends on its priorities because we expend our valuable efforts and influence on the things that are most important to us. I'm just saying....

Finally, you've often heard me quote the Bible's admonition that we are to be "watchmen on the wall," warning others of coming dangers, either spiritual, moral, or physical.

Appropriate to the times in which we live, the Bible also has a warning regarding those "watchmen." In Psalm 127:1, the writer cautions: "Unless the Lord guards the city, The watchman keeps awake in vain."

Many of the "watchmen" that America has placed on its walls have done a good job of warning us about the approaching dangers. The unfortunate truth is that many of those warnings have fallen on deaf ears or have been blatantly ignored by our leaders.

Lately, the blame has been flying thick and heavy over the "unexpected" rise of ISIS and the imminent threat posed by Ebola. Once again, the unfortunate truth is that our watchmen have been faithfully and regularly issuing dire warnings to our leaders. Plainly put, those warnings have been ignored, either intentionally or out of arrogance, ignorance, incompetence, or political correctness.

I don't think you can deny that God has providentially protected our nation throughout its history. But I also believe that He will not remain patient with us forever. Dangers -- and enemies -- that we have traditionally assumed would never reach our shores, now walk among us or lurk in our shadows.

Folks, there is only one place to be truly secure, and that is in Christ. In this crazy, mixed-up, and darkening world, we have only one true hope -- to fully put our faith in Jesus Christ and His power to redeem us and keep us until we join Him in heaven.

If you have not chosen that place of safety by accepting Jesus Christ and the free gift of pardon that His death on Calvary purchased for you, do it right now.

Please don't ignore this watchman's warning.

This Is Why... ~Hal Lindsey Report - January 31, 2014

This week's Hal Lindsey Report is especially interesting.  It goes hand-in-hand with the previous post, so I hope you will take time to read both. Please watch Erick Stakelbeck's video at the link below. It is time to educate ourselves.

I take one exception to Hal's comments below, when he states "...what's happening here in "Christian" America...".  Yeah, the quotes aound "Christian" trouble me. I simply have to say, Hal; when we are no longer Christian America we are no longer America!

Oh, and by the way, Mr. Lindsey quotes for us the words of Gov. Cuomo - New York.  Cuomo recently said in a radio interview:  "extreme conservatives who are right-to-life, pro-assault-weapon, anti-gay... have no place in the state of New York." New York's new mayor quickly seconded that motion, "...100 percent."

Well, what do you know about that?! Sounds exactly like what Richard Stearns (President of World Vision) said in his book The Hole in Our Gospel! Although Stearns wasn't trying to kick anyone out as Cuomo appears to hope.  (Yeah, I know; Cuomo apologized...sort of) Heads up, Christian!  And pay attention!

Respectfully, for those that have a hard time understanding why there are some Christians that choose to remain political, hopefully Hal's newsletter will give you an understanding as to why. I don't believe there is a time in history that political activism, first rooted in prayer, has ever been more needed.

January 31st, 2014
This week on 'The Hal Lindsey Report'

Every year, an organization called Open Doors publishes its "World Watch." It includes a list of the fifty countries in the world guilty of the worst persecution of Christians. This year, North Korea and Somalia topped the list. Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan rounded out the top five.

That means that the United States is heavily involved with three of the five worst offenders in the world. Further, Libya was placed in the category of "Extreme Persecution" and Egypt received a "Severe Persecution" rating. The U.S. helped the rebels overthrow the government in Libya and the Administration helped bring Mohamed Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood to power in Egypt.

Before the "Arab Spring" uprising, Syria was known for its religious tolerance (not its political tolerance). Though President Bashar al-Assad has plenty of blood on his hands, the violence toward Christians in Syria is not being perpetrated by the government. The killing and torturing of Christians is primarily the work of the Syrian rebels -- the U.S.-supported Syrian rebels. It's almost incomprehensible to me that the side supported by the United States in the Syrian civil war is the one murdering and pillaging Christians.

Likewise, in Egypt the severe persecution and attacks on the ancient Coptic Christian population is the work of Muslim factions in the country and encouraged by the Muslim Brotherhood.

Middle East and Islam expert Raymond Ibrahim made a startling observation: "Whenever the U.S. intervenes in an Islamic nation, Islamists come to power... (and) Christian minorities suffer 'extreme persecution.'"

The "Arab Spring" has turned out to be one of the great disasters of human history, yet there seems to be no accountability. The U.S. pours billions of dollars into these countries or into the opposition forces, yet seems to have no influence with them or refuses to use it on behalf of any persecuted Christians.

Why do we empower forces hostile to Christianity when those forces are also inevitably hostile to all things western, especially the United States? As a nation, we are destroying ourselves -- and allowing the destruction of millions of others -- with the notion that Christianity and Islam are essentially the same.

Not only is this idea false, it's deadly.

Just as alarming as America's unwitting support of Christian persecution around the world is the immediate prospect of that same persecution coming to the one nation that all the world describes as "Christian." But, then, it's hardly surprising to see the rise of corruption when the best influence to the contrary -- the Bible -- is being discarded as if it were a deadly infection.

Recently, New York's governor Andrew Cuomo told a radio interviewer that "extreme conservatives who are right-to-life, pro-assault-weapon, anti-gay... have no place in the state of New York." New York's new mayor quickly seconded that motion, "...100 percent."

Cuomo later tried to walk that statement back by saying that he meant the extremists had no place in New York politics. But two of the three issues he mentioned are moral issues, not political ones. If you're a conservative and/or a Christian living in New York, you're probably starting to feel a little unappreciated about now.

But don't be distressed if you are pro-traditional marriage, pro-life, and even pro-Jesus, because the hatred you're beginning to feel from the world is not directed at you. It's a hatred of Jesus Christ. In fact, Jesus Himself warned that this would happen in these last days. He said, "If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you ... because you are not of this world... therefore the world hates you ... If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you." (John 15:18-20)

American Christians are surely headed toward dark days of persecution. I believe this will start as a general dismissal of our claims (which are the claims of Christ) by the society at large. We are already beginning to feel the discomfort that comes with the ridiculing of what we believe by academia, the media, and big government. It will then move through marginalization to recrimination to discrimination to ostracization to criminalization. Once Christian behavior and thought are "criminalized," Christianity can then be effectively and finally removed from the society by the removal of Christians from that society.

You don't think that can happen? It's already happening to our brothers and sisters in other parts of the world.

You don't think that can happen in America? The process has been at full throttle for at least a generation. And this week, I'll give you a few examples of how, right here in the good old USA, Christians are increasingly not welcome in school, in the military, in the media, in business, in government, and even in public.

Of course, there is no way I can even begin to scratch the surface of what's happening here in "Christian" America in one half-hour program, but I believe you will be stunned when you begin to consider how rapidly major changes are happening. Changes thought impossible just a few decades ago. Changes that were foretold by the ancient Bible prophets.

Hal Lindsey Report for October 25, 2013

The incident mentioned below has been reported not only by Hal Lindsey, but others as well. Further, this isn't an isolated incident regarding religious discrimination in our military. Below Hal Lindsey's report is a link I have placed from the American Center of Law and Justice (ACLJ), in order for us to take action.

This week on 'The Hal Lindsey Report'

This week, I'll continue my discussion of "The Man God Became."

As I mentioned in this space last week, as we see the demonic spirit of "political correctness" take firmer hold on all areas of our society, I'm convinced that the decision by true Christians to stand up for Jesus on certain issues and claims will spark an onslaught of derision and discrimination against us. I think those defining issues will include abortion, same sex marriage, parental rights, and the role of God in our national life.

Already, our military, our schools, our courts, our media, and our governments are in a mad dash to eliminate any vestige of religious freedom. Just this week, a story broke about a pre-deployment briefing at Fort Hood, Texas. Todd Starnes at FoxNews.com is reporting that on October 17, U.S. Army soldiers were told that "evangelical Christians and members of the Tea Party were a threat to the nation and that any soldier donating to those groups would be subjected to punishment under the Uniform Code of Military Justice."

Though a Pentagon spokesman denies this incident happened, it has been corroborated by other witnesses.

I believe it will ultimately come down to the declaration by Jesus Christ that He alone is the way to heaven. Jesus Himself said that because the world hated Him, it will hate us. He cautioned that true, and faithful, believers will be persecuted "for My name's sake." (John 15:21)

It now appears that the men and women of our armed forces -- the very ones who have volunteered their lives to defend our Constitution and our nation -- may be among the first who will have to decide whether to deny Christ or face criminal prosecution.

Folks, as a former member of our nation's armed services, the Coast Guard, I am incredulous as I write these words. President Dwight Eisenhower once admonished the nation that "there are no atheists in foxholes." If he were alive today, I wonder how that great soldier would respond to the prospect that soon there may be no Christians in foxholes!

Last week, I told you that if we are to remain strong in the coming days, months, and years, we must be planted on a firm foundation. To be able to unflinchingly press the claims of Christ in this hostile world, we must first understand the man who made those claims.

On the last Report, we looked at some of the reasons "Why God Had to Become a Man." This week, I'll continue my examination of "The Man God Became."

I'll share with you seven reasons why God had to become a man. I'll tell you about the claims that Jesus made. Claims that leave no wiggle room for doubt. Either He is the Messiah -- or He is a lunatic. As C.S. Lewis observed, "...let us not come up with that patronizing nonsense about His being just a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to."

You'll learn about His two distinct natures that are inseparably united -- total deity and true humanity. These two natures are united in one person, without confusion or mixture of attributes and function. The Lord Jesus is equal to God the Father and God the Holy Spirit, yet different in that He is also a true man. As we will see, this is the reason why He, and He alone, can be the Mediator between God and Man.

Without Jesus, there could be no reconciliation between God and man. Without Jesus, there would be no redemption for us.

As I said previously, the majesty, the beauty, and the sheer complexity of the concept of the God-Man Jesus Christ is almost overwhelming. But it was all necessary to redeem the creation lost to sin at the fall of Adam. Thank God that He loved us so much He provided a "second Adam" to unselfishly take our place and become our "kinsman redeemer."

From ACLJ:

There are ominous signs the U.S. military is turning its back on religious freedom.

On April 23, Pentagon leaders met with Mikey Weinstein, an anti-Christian extremist who decries “fundamentalist Christian monsters” and calls Christians “pitiable unconstitutional carpetbaggers.” He compares Christians to racists from the civil rights era.

If he said these things about Muslims, he’d never be permitted in the Pentagon; but now military leaders are actually consulting with him – relying on his input – as they create new policies that may roll back religious liberty – especially for Christians. This must stop:

Petition to Protect Religious Freedom in the Military

To President Barack Obama and Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel:

Cut ties with anti-Christian extremists who seek to redefine tolerance to include every religion but Christianity. Protect the constitutional rights of all soldiers, including Christian soldiers. Anti-Christian extremism has no place in the military.

Watchmen

This is an important message from Hal Lindsey.  I hope you will thoughtfully read it and decide to be a "watchman" as well.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
October 11th, 2013
This week on 'The Hal Lindsey Report'
On this week's program, I feel compelled to speak to you in my ministry as a "watchman on the wall." In ancient times, the watchmen stood atop the walls of the city. From that vantage point, they scoured the horizon for approaching danger. If they spotted something or someone approaching that implied a threat to the city, they loudly shouted the warnings. The defenders of the city then sprang into action to repel the invader or handle the danger.
In just as vital a capacity, the prophets in the Old Testament were also "watchmen" who warned the leaders and the people of what they saw coming upon them as the Lord revealed it to them. They were often the conscience of the nation. They chastised, warned, and corrected leaders and kings. God used them to speak His will to the nation.
In much the same way, today's church and her ministers of the Gospel should be the conscience of our nation. But, in ways incremental and unnoticeable on the one hand, and fast and furious on the other, that role is being limited and may soon be completely suppressed.
In past shows during the 16 years this program has been on the air (originally as "The International Intelligence Briefing" on TBN), I've warned of threats to the church and its "watchman" role posed by the moral and spiritual deterioration of our society. Today, however, I see dangers even more ominous.
As President Obama's administration finds itself engulfed in multiplying -- and ever-widening -- scandals, it's alarming how many of them involve the restriction of our rights as citizens, the destruction of institutions and liberties vital to our national freedom, and the suppression of any opposition -- especially the church and her ministers -- that is perceived as a threat to the administration's intentions.
Folks, I believe we are at a crossroads. If we turn a blind eye to the cynical and callous actions of some of our elected and appointed leaders, we will regret it sooner rather than later. Don't be misled by the still-sleeping (or brain-dead) mainstream media, the goal of the "operations" that are now being exposed is the total control of our society and its citizens.
Here are just a few of the scandals that are in the news today: the IRS targeting of conservative and religious groups; the Justice Department crusades against the Associated Press and Fox News (the two that we know about so far); the cover-up of the lethal al Qaeda-led attack on our compound in Benghazi in which our Ambassador and three others died; the attacks on the rights of Christians in the armed services; the EPA's prejudicial treatment of non-liberal organizations; "Fast and Furious"; the across-the-board suppression of any information or policy that exposes the true intentions of Islamists in America; the almost-fanatical push to promote same-sex marriage and the abortion agenda; and the mounting revelations of "unintended consequences" in the implementation of Obamacare.
The net result of the success of even a few of these efforts will be the curtailment of our rights as Americans and Christians.
I know whereof I speak. Over the last couple of years, my ministry (and this television program) has been under unusually close scrutiny by the Internal Revenue Service. Because of your willingness to stand with me in intercessory prayer for God's protection and also because of the personal integrity and diligence of some of the IRS employees who handled our case, we've made it through okay, thus far.
But I have to admit that I was stunned by the interpretation applied by the IRS as to what constitutes a "church" or a "minister." Under those definitions, the Apostle Paul couldn't have qualified for a 501(c)3! I believe there is a movement afoot to eliminate what the Bible defines as "apostolic" ministry -- where a minister is appointed and gifted to speak to the whole church. That could, in effect, eliminate many non-pastoral or parachurch ministries.
Indeed, I know also that there is coming a push to require churches -- which are and have always been, by their nature, "tax exempt" without having to "qualify" with a government agency -- to apply for status as 501(c)3 organizations to maintain the tax-exempt status they already have! You can see where that's going. The IRS would be the government bureau that decides if your church is qualified to be a church and if your pastor is qualified to be a minister. If that happens, that means the IRS will be the official interpreter of what the Bible teaches. (It's already designated to be the "enforcer" of Obamacare!)
Is that what we want? If the government controls us, then it can effectively mute the voice of God to the people and to the leadership. It can silence the church by starving it and even confining its leaders if they transgress the will of the State.
Well, I suppose you've guessed by now what I'll be discussing on this week's "Report." Tune in and encourage your family, friends, neighbors, and fellow church members to do the same. This is a time when we all need to be informed and united as never before!
Hal Lindsey Report for October 4, 2013
I am posting this letter for two reasons:
1. We need to know what will be happening next and we need to prepare.
2.  I love and appreciate his tribute to Pastor Chuck Smith.
This week's letter is definately worth reading.
October 4th, 2013
This week on 'The Hal Lindsey Report'
Less than five years ago, the United States had a Commander-in-Chief who was an outspoken born-again, evangelical Christian. He publicly identified the Bible as his favorite book and Jesus Christ as the most important philosophical influence in his life.
Today, members of our military who are Christians are forbidden to display a Bible on their desks. They can wear their uniforms if marching in a gay-pride parade, but cannot wear their uniforms if they speak before a church congregation, or any other religious gathering.
Military chaplains are allowed to pray in the name of Jesus Christ when they are conducting services in a military chapel, but they're forbidden to use the name of Jesus when praying in public places. I wonder if that includes the battlefield?
I could spend this entire letter listing just some of the dramatic changes that have befallen our nation in the last few years - and all under the guise of "political correctness" or its legal term, "hate speech."
You may be wondering why I keep hammering on this subject. I do so because I want you to truly understand that it may be only a few short years, or less, before your pastor will be told he or she cannot preach what the Bible says about marriage or the sanctity of life or even proclaim that Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation and heaven. If he does, he'll be prosecuted and maybe even sent to prison.
You don't think that can happen in America? Well, it's already happening in Europe and, as you know, our friends on the Left want America to be just like Europe. Even worse, it's happening just north of our border in Canada.
And the insidious thing about political correctness is this: you're its prisoner before you even know it's a threat. Trust me, I wish it were not happening, but we know it will because the Bible prophets predicted it.
You and I have been entrusted by God to be His representatives on this earth at the most critical, and exciting, time in prophetic history. So lest we blow our opportunity to bring glory to God in the closing days of this Age of Grace, I want to help you prepare for what certainly lies ahead.
If you've been watching the last few editions of this Report, you know that I believe times of persecution and prosecution are just around the corner. And when they come, we, as believers, need to be ready to stand strong against the rushing tides of public opinion and public ridicule. We need to be ready to fight.
That's why I want to talk to you this week about "Combat Faith." What is "Combat Faith"? How do we get it? In view of the rapidly increasing dangers of these last days, I want to share with you the most important truth God ever showed me.
On a personal note, it saddens me to say "Goodbye" to my dear friend and colleague, Pastor Chuck Smith. Chuck founded the Calvary Chapel movement in Southern California and was a driving force in the Jesus Movement of the 1960's and 1970's. That's when I was active with Campus Crusade for Christ on American college campuses. Chuck's courage and vision were an inspiration to all of us who ministered to the counterculture during those tumultuous years.
Chuck had been battling cancer the last two years, but he never lost his warmth, his sense of humor, or his passion to share Jesus with anyone and everyone. When news came yesterday that he had gone home to be with Jesus, I was conflicted. My heart was broken, yet it was filled with joy that my friend's suffering was over and his eternity of happiness was just beginning.
It's always difficult to know what to say in moments like these, but I think Chuck himself said it best. Thursday's Los Angeles Times quoted him: "Someday you're going to read in the paper, 'Chuck Smith died.' That's bad reporting. What it should say is, 'Chuck Smith moved.'"
So long for now, Chuck. I know we'll see you again soon.
Maranatha!
God Bless,
Hal Lindsey
Hal Lindsey Report - September 13, 2013
Heartfelt and true....
September 13th, 2013
This week on 'The Hal Lindsey Report'
In 1954, the American Legion sponsored a series of network television broadcasts called "Back to God." On one of those national telecasts, President Dwight D. Eisenhower appeared from the White House. He thanked the American Legion for urging Americans to acknowledge God in their daily lives.
Then the President said, "As a former soldier, I am delighted that our veterans are sponsoring a movement to increase our awareness of God in our daily lives. In battle, they (the veterans) learned a great truth, that there are no atheists in the foxholes."
Can you imagine this happening today?
The President humbly referred to himself as "a former soldier." In truth, he was one of only five Americans to earn the rank of five-star general. He was the Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces in Europe in World War II. He and General George Washington are undeniably the most widely admired soldiers in American history.
Fast forward to 2013. An Air Force chaplain at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson near Anchorage, Alaska, wrote a column for the base website. Keep in mind that Lt. Col. Reyes is a chaplain. He titled his column: "No Atheists in Foxholes: Chaplains Gave All in World War II."
His look back at the contributions and sacrifices of chaplains on the battlefields of World War II quoted one of America's most beloved soldiers and Presidents, Dwight Eisenhower. Now, that sounds like pretty safe territory for a military chaplain to tread, doesn't it? An officer whose job is to provide spiritual comfort and guidance to his troops remembering the sacrifices of other officers who provided spiritual comfort and guidance to their troops on the battlefield? And basing it on a quote from one of America's greatest soldiers and Presidents?
Wrong.
Folks, this ain't 1954 and that ain't your Daddy's Oldsmobile!
Chaplain Reyes was reprimanded for the column and his base commander publicly apologized for not stopping him from discussing religious subjects on the base website. What was the chaplain expected to discuss? Automotive repair tips?
So what has changed since 1954? Lots of things, obviously, but two stand out: 1. These are the last days. 2. Mikey Weinstein.
You probably remember Mr. Weinstein from previous programs. He heads the benignly and misleadingly named Military Religious Freedom Foundation or MRFF. (A more appropriate name would be the Military Freedom FROM Religion Foundation.)
The MRFF protested the chaplain's column and within five hours it had been removed from Elmendorf's website.
Apparently no place or venue is safe from Mr. Weinstein's near-omnipresent gaze. He's the guy who publicly called a Christian service member sharing his or her faith "spiritual rape." He has labeled Christians "monsters," "terrorists," and "enemies of the Constitution."
Who cares, you say? He sounds like a nut! Well, I agree, but President Obama doesn't. In fact, Weinstein has become the Administration's go-to guy on topics of "religious tolerance" in the U.S. military. Which sounds about par for the course these days -- pick someone who has NO religious tolerance to advise the brass on religious tolerance.
Just a few short decades ago, our national leaders actually promoted faith in God and the inclusion of God in the life and fabric of the nation. You see, they faced the specter of an opposing world superpower who sought to eliminate God and vest His authority in the State.
They understood that America's strength lay in her citizens' belief in and obeisance to an authority higher than man-made government: the Divine Creator. That freed us from the doubt and indecision and fear that pervades when the conduct of our lives is determined solely by whoever is in power at the moment.
It's a short and undeniable principle: Man changes. God doesn't. It doesn't take a rocket scientist or brain surgeon to figure which of the two will provide a more stable national environment.
On August 21, 1941, President Franklin Roosevelt and British Prime Minister Winston Churchill sat together, with hundreds of sailors and marines, at a church service aboard the HMS Prince of Wales in a harbor on the coast of Newfoundland. They sang the hymns of the church and drank in the strength provided by a mutual spiritual heritage and faith in a common God.
Later, Roosevelt told his son that the service "cemented us" for the dark days of World War II that lay ahead. Churchill wept during "Onward, Christian Soldiers" and later remarked that, "Every word seemed to stir the heart. It was a great hour to live."
It brings tears to my eyes just writing these words. My friends, that is a world that is long past.
In Britain today, fewer than 10% attend religious services, and a majority of those are Muslim. Now, the number one choice for a baby's name in the UK is "Mohammed."
In Luke 18:8, Jesus Himself asked this question: "When the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?" Some studies show that atheism will replace "religion" as the dominant spiritual practice by 2041.
I personally don't worry too much about atheism because every man and woman has an innate awareness of God. But I do worry about the church. Will we become so desperate to attract people to our pews that we'll modify and water down the message of the Gospel? Perfect examples of this are the liberal denominations that have become like empty sepulchers. And now it's happening in many evangelical mega-churches.
At the rate we're going, and if the President and his party get their way, I'm not certain Jesus will find faith in the military when He returns. Likewise, I doubt He'll find faith in the ranks of academia or even in the lower echelons of our educational system. It appears that faith is in achingly short supply in the entertainment business already. Government, at least on the federal level, has already declared its independence from faith and conscience. Many believe that business, especially Big Business, turned its back on God long ago and worships only at the altar of the dollar.
So where will Jesus look for faith when He returns? In your heart and mine. That's why, no matter what happens in the world around us (and it's happening fast and furiously), stand confidently on the firm foundation of God's immutable promises to us. "Then after the battle you will still be standing firm." (Ephesians 6:13, NLT)
Hal Lindsey Report ~ June 28th, 2013
Kinda important, Christian...
I'm thankful for this man's ministry.
June 28th, 2013
This week on 'The Hal Lindsey Report'
Iran has a new president-elect that the Administration and the media think is a "moderate." Does this sound like a "moderate?" In 1993, Hassan Rohani officially approved the bombing of a Jewish community center in Buenos Aires, Argentina. 85 people were killed (mostly Jews) and more than 300 injured.
He approved of Iran's brutal crackdown on student protesters in 1999. He brags of deceiving the West into allowing Iran's nuclear program to go forward while serving as Iran's nuclear negotiator with the Europeans.
Also, Rohani has had a long and close relationship with Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei -- something not common among true Iranian "moderates."
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warns the West not to expect much of a change in Iran. He points out that in Iran the president "doesn't call the shots," the Supreme Leader does. And he hasn't changed.
Here's something that may surprise you. Remember the Taliban? They're the guys we've been fighting in Afghanistan, the ones who sheltered and fought alongside Osama bin-Laden.
They're the ones who ran Afghanistan for a few years and who are known for their brutality and cruelty -- all in the name of Islam.
They publicly lop off the limbs of "infidels;" behead youngsters scavenging for food; behead teenagers (17 of them) who ill-advisedly attend a party that includes both boys and girls; shoot a 15-year old girl in the head for wanting to go to school; strap dynamite belts on small children and send them to American soldiers to beg for candy; treat women and girls as cattle... and that's just the stuff they've done recently that we know about!
Anyway, those are the guys President Obama has decided to negotiate with for "peace" in Afghanistan. Not the elected president we've spent billions establishing and supporting in office. Apparently, the State Department feels they can influence the Taliban into "renouncing terrorism and violence."
Maybe at the same time the Administration can influence baseball players into renouncing the use of bats while playing the game!
What's more, the Taliban doesn't have to give an inch or offer any concessions before the U.S. hands them Afghanistan on a silver platter. They know all of our combat troops will be out of the country next year. They know because our President announced it! If I could find a word more accurate than "stupid," I'd use it.
"Naive" might work, but I don't think naivete is involved here. I think, however, it was naivete that drove former President George W. Bush to believe that "democracy" is an antidote to terrorism, poverty, human rights abuses, and a host of other problems plaguing the world. Just because the American Revolution worked here doesn't mean it's going to work everywhere.
Just a few years later, it didn't work in France. In fact, revolution there produced the "Reign of Terror." And "revolution" as evidenced in the "Arab Spring" hasn't worked in the Middle East, either. The governments that replaced the old regimes are more brutal and suppressive than their predecessors. Iran is the perfect example of revolution gone wrong. And the Egyptians, among others, are now paying the price, too.
Why? Because democracy doesn't survive in cultures dominated by Islam -- which is the antithesis of freedom of choice and action. Democracy is a beautiful thing, but by itself, it isn't enough. Democracy works best in places where Biblical principles are respected.
It eventually dies everywhere that respect dies. That's because liberty by itself leads to depravity. Depravity leads to tyranny.
I've got news for our government and the West: if you expect the al-Qaeda-led rebels in Syria to successfully set up a government that is of the people, by the people, and for the people, you are sadly mistaken. (Once again, if I could find a better word than "stupid," I'd use it.) It will work no better there than in Iran, Egypt, Iraq, or Afghanistan. History tells us that Muslim nations have never long remained democracies. But history also teaches us that man learns nothing from history.
Finally, the World Council of Churches recently issued a statement condemning Israel. The WCC authoritatively pronounced Jerusalem "an occupied city with a government which has adopted discriminatory policies against Christians and Muslims alike."
The WCC also says that "Christian Zionism distort[s] the interpretation of the Word of God and the historic connection of Palestinians -- Christians and Muslims -- to the Holy Land...." I'm not sure where the WCC gets its information, but I can tell you two things: when they complain about Christian Zionists' wrong interpretation of the Bible, they have to mean that we take the Bible as literally true and authoritative -- while they do not.
Second, when they seek justification by referring to "Palestinian Christians" more than once, they're being disingenuous. The truth is that Christians are a very small minority in the Palestinian areas and they are often persecuted by the Palestinians. But in Israel, Christians are accepted and respected. And it's infinitely better to be a Muslim in Israel than a Jew or Christian in any Arab or Muslim country.
And the WCC laughably refers to "the historic connection of Palestinians... to the Holy Land...." The Palestinians, as a people, have only existed for a few decades (invented by Yasser Arafat and his cronies) while Israel's historic connection to the land must be measured in millennia.
When these phony Christians condemn the "intolerance" of the most tolerant, open, and accepting society in the Middle East, they reveal more about themselves than about Israel.
Israel fights every day to survive. Remember how you felt when you first heard about the bombings at the Boston Marathon? Three died. That feeling is a regular part of Israeli life. From 2001 to 2006, there were 441 terrorist attacks that claimed 1,161 Israeli lives and injured more than 8,600 others.
The World Council of Churches says the way to peace is for Israel to withdraw to its "1967 borders." But the terrorists and the Palestinians say this won't satisfy them. They won't be satisfied until Israel is annihilated from the face of the earth. For radical Muslim leaders (are there any others?), the problem is not what Israel does, it's that Israel exists.
The Bible is very specific about what will happen to those who mistreat or abuse His people. Whether you are a Muslim who hates Israel or a Christian who has so allegorized the Word of God that you think you can be against Israel and get away with it, you will not. God keeps His word. Don't think He'll not keep it now.
I pray that you'll have a happy Fourth of July. Take a few moments to express your gratitude to God for the blessings of this wonderful country. We are, without doubt, the most blessed people on earth. Take time, too, to make certain the young ones in your family hear the story of our founding and understand how truly privileged we are.
God bless the United States of America.
Hal Lindsey Newsletter with Commentary
At this time in my life, when I have so much going on that it limits my time and ability to write, I really appreciate the newsletters from Hal Lindsey. In this particular letter, Mr. Lindsey speaks to just about everything I would want to write this week. Please take a moment to read his important newsletter. I have "bulleted" his points regarding the scandals within this administration. I wanted to emphasize for those who haven't been able to keep up, just exactly all that is taking place in our nation at this time. The letter is otherwise left unchanged.
On a side note, Mr. Lindsey's opening paragraphs explain exactly the purpose I intended for this blog. And he did it far more eloquently than I did when I attempted it at my blog's beginning.
There appears to be a great deal of apathy in our nation today. One has to wonder, where in the world is the outrage in regard to all that is taking place! It is definitely a time for prayer, Christian! But I have long believed, prayer ALWAYS leads to action. If one isn't acting, one most likely is not praying. I believe our God expects action of us.
When Moses was told to part the Red Sea, there was much fear and trepidation among the people of Israel. Moses encouraged them and told them to trust in the Lord. That they need only be still. From that we can see, first there must be trust in our Lord. Moses then entered the task with prayer - dialogue with the God of the Universe. I believe there would also be some worry from Moses, revealed in that dialogue with God. Because God finally said to Moses. "Why are you crying out to Me? Raise your hand and part that water!"
That is a paraphrase, of course; but you can read the story at Exodus 14:5-31; specifically verses 13-16. As Moses cried out to God (prayer), God instructed him to action. We would be wise not to forget that when we are in prayer for our nation. There are any number of examples throughout Scripture where we can see God requires action.
As we pray for our nation, we can also act in a number of ways: by calling senators and representatives; we can act by voting; we can act by writing letters to the editor of our local paper; and we can act by merely posting a sentiment on Facebook - as unpopular as that may be. It all leads to awareness. I find it ironic that in a time of all the multi-faceted means we have in communication today, if often times seems we as citizens have never been less knowledgeable about what is taking place in our nation.
Please have a safe and enjoyable Memorial Day week-end; all the while remembering, this week-end isn't about bar-b-ques and the beginning of summer. Rather it is about the ultimate sacrifice given by those who have guaranteed our freedom. It is a tragedy to minimize, ignore, forget, and squander all that has kept us free.
Is that what we want? If the government controls us, then it can effectively mute the voice of God to the people and to the leadership. It can silence the church by starving it and even confining its leaders if they transgress the will of the State.
Well, I suppose you've guessed by now what I'll be discussing on this week's "Report." Tune in and encourage your family, friends, neighbors, and fellow church members to do the same. This is a time when we all need to be informed and united as never before!
Please join me to pray for those in Moore, Oklahoma, and other communities that have suffered devastating tornadoes over the last few days. There's nothing like the power and swiftness of these kinds of natural disasters to remind us how small and helpless we are in the greater scheme of things -- and how important it is to trust God and always be spiritually ready for the moment this life ends. If you're not ready for that moment, simply confess your sin; ask Jesus to forgive you and cleanse you; then trust Him to do that and accept the free gift of pardon He died on Calvary to purchase for you. You've just changed your eternal destiny!
Also, please have a safe and memorable Memorial Day weekend. Take some time to thank God for the men and women who gave their all to defend America's -- and the world's -- freedom. Thank Him, too, and pray for the brave ones who daily place their lives on the line to protect our nation and defend liberty around the world. We owe them a debt of gratitude we can never begin to repay. God bless them and God bless our beloved country.
