A Look In The Mirror

Boy, I'm not sure I have the energy to write this…there is so much stinking garbage going on in this current administration one can barely keep up with it all. This topic, however, cannot be ignored.

If the reader hasn’t heard, Planned Parenthood was recently exposed for encouraging, or condoning gender based abortions. An employee was caught on tape telling a “customer” that she could do a sonogram to find out the sex of her baby; and if it wasn’t what she and her husband wanted, she could then come back for an abortion.

The story gained quite a bit of publicity - at least on the conservative news channels; not so much on mainstream media. A group by the name of Live Action caught these statements on tape as well as other like-statements that were revealed just today. More power to this group for exposing this inhumanity. There is not an ounce of human decency in what is happening in regard to someone murdering a baby because they didn’t want the child based on his or her gender.

Today there was a vote in the House of Representatives that would ban these gender based abortions. Two hundred forty-six members voted to criminalize this act; 20 of those votes were cast by Democrats, the rest Republican. You can see the vote here. Check it out and hold your Congressman accountable.

Unfortunately, a two-thirds vote was needed, which failed to be reached. Shockingly, gender based abortions are now perfectly legal and in fact, the new law of the land. Who would have ever thought this would happen in America! Not me.

Democrats defeated this bill. Only 7 Republicans joined them in voting against the bill that would ban this complete insanity. Congressman Ron Paul from Texas was one of those Republicans that voted with Democrats against the bill that would criminalize this barbaric act. Instead, we now have China-like policy that allows a parent to choose the gender of their babies who would be allowed to live…or not. Somehow, the mostly Democratic party-line vote didn’t surprise me, but it does disgust me. And the supposedly pro-life politician, Dr. Ron Paul, shows he is far from being the strong pro-life candidate he claims to be and that his supporters continue to believe. His vote on this disgusts me even more than any one else’s because of his pro-life claims. It doesn't match up and this isn’t the first time. He once again votes with the Democrats on issues that anyone who was actually concerned with the sanctity of life would never consider! So what about “…the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness...”, Dr. Paul? Our U.S. Constitution and Declaration of Independence, remember? Your hypocrisy is revealed yet again. My disdain grows for you and your left leanings while unrealistically and inappropriately using the Constitution as your excuse!

The libertarian/liberal excuse that “this is some place the government shouldn’t be involved” is beyond nauseating in every regard. I’ve had my fill of hearing it. Ignoring and thereby condoning immorality in the name of the Constitution or States Rights isn't freedom, it's anarchy! This isn't conservatism; it is joining fronts with the liberal left.

This is about the morality of a nation. This is about the decency of mankind. This is about the sanctity of life; plain and simple. Laura Ingraham said it best on Bill O’Reilly tonight.

“No mainstream news coverage on this”, O’Reilly reminds us.

“Of course not!” Laura responds; “Because this is like holding up a mirror to ourselves and people don’t want to look in the mirror and see what we have become.”

Yeah…it’s pretty ugly. And I am not going to be seen in that mirror. I do not want to be a part of the excuses, or the hypocrisy by remaining silent.

Who will defend those innocent lives, if we continue to say “our government has no place here”. If our government has a place anywhere, it IS in protecting life.

There IS NO excuse for not criminalizing this act.

Choosing Life

Yesterday was the 39th anniversary of Roe v Wade, making abortion legal in our nation. Statistics show an astounding estimate of 54,559,615 abortions, since 1973.

I didn’t see a lot of news coverage yesterday about this anniversary date in our nation’s history; but I did catch Governor Mike Huckabee’s show on the Fox News Channel.  One of his guests was a young woman, Rebecca Kiessling, whose mother chose to let her baby (Rebecca) live though she had been conceived during a rape.  Hers was a powerful testimony of why every life has value.  Rebecca now has a ministry encouraging life; and her story is one of many that have been included in a movie that Gov. Huckabee hosts. You can find out more about this movie at: http://www.thegiftoflifemovie.com/

His second guest was a woman that had worked in an abortion clinic for many years before changing her views on abortion.  Carol Everett told how she went into this profession hoping to become a millionaire.  There were times, she said, that the clinic would actually give faulty birth control, in order to have their victims become pregnant so they would then have to come back for an abortion. Ms. Everett also explained that statistics reveal that the younger women are when they receive their first abortion the more likely they are to repeat the procedure. Once women have their first abortion out of the way, they would then actually use abortion as a means of birth control.  After participating in 35,000 abortions, Ms. Everett finally came to terms with this controversial subject when she accepted Jesus as her Savior. She then chose to leave her former life behind her.  She is now the CEO of the Heidi Group which aids women in unplanned pregnancies. In their first year of operation 1115 babies were delivered and 273 mothers accepted Jesus as their Savior. Carol's testimony is also included in the movie The Gift of Life.

This movie is filled with compelling testimony, dramatically explaining the importance of choosing life. You can find out more about the movie Governor Huckabee is promoting at:  http://thegiftoflifemovie.com/huckabee.aspx

“Contempt and indifference toward any life can become contempt and indifference toward every life, including yours or mine. We have to embrace the culture of life.” Gov. Mike Huckabee

The Influential

Phew!  The end of 2011 is here!  It’s been a pretty good year for us – for the most part.

The media is full of end of year thoughts, end of year review, end of year news stories, and on and on.  I’m a bit of a news junkie, so I like all of it.  I like the reviews that give a memorial to those that have died this past year.  I may have not heard about some of those, or I may have forgotten some. Plus, I think it is a nice tribute to those that will no longer be with us. It causes me to think about the life they have led, whether it be good or whether it be evil; either way there is a bit of sadness.

This morning in my email in-box was my newsletter from Cornerstone.  I love these newsletters as they keep me informed about things that are taking place nationally as well as state-wide.  This morning, Cornerstone included an article entitled Top Five Most Influential Pro-Life Celebrities of 2011.  Because of my interest in end-of-year reviews, this article immediately caught my attention.  So as I started reading, I quickly saw they started from number five and worked their way to the number one most influential pro-life person. I won’t comment too much on all of them; a couple I have never even heard of.

#5 Ray Comfort for his documentary 180 Movie released by Living Waters.  I had not heard about this movie, but wow, it sounds like I missed a good one.  180 Movie, mostly a You-Tube video that received 2 million hits, was also distributed in DVD across college campuses. It reveals the lives lost by abortion today, are in fact, a new Holocaust.

#4 Kathy Ireland, former super model, was cited for her commitment to help defund Planned Parenthood of tax payer dollars.

#3 Eduardo Verástegui, I hate to admit, I had never heard of, but he made the list due to his pro-life movie, Bella and for his non-profit, pro-life charity, The Mantle of Guadalupe.

#2 Justin Bieber What!  Justin Bieber!!?  Ok, this was the one that was the big surprise to me. I never would have expected this from the 17 year old super star - (super star, at least in some circles). Anyway, he drew fire from pro-choice feminists, even to the point of being called the “Anti-choice Poster Boy”.  You go, Justin!!  Yeah, I like him now.  ;-)

#1 TIM TEBOW!!  Yes!  My personal favorite and Cornerstone’s favorite too, it seems. I love this young man for his solid steadfast commitment to our Lord Jesus Christ.  Tim’s very presence is controversial, it seems.  He came into this life that way, when his mom refused to get an abortion after being advised to do so by her doctors. Last year, Tim created quite a stir for a commercial he and his mom made for the Super Bowl.  It was a very simple, but beautiful, non-threatening message about life; but oh brother, it was causing controversy even before it aired. Since then, he has become the first string quarterback for the Denver Broncos, leading them to victories this season, no one thought possible.

He gained some notoriety during his college career for writing Bible Scriptures under his eyes with his eye protection paint.  At one point after a football game 94 million people had googled John 3:16.  Tim’s comment during an interview when he had heard that statistic? “I didn’t know there were that many people that didn’t know what John 3:16 said.”

Now, he is receiving a lot of flack for praying with his teammates; giving praise to God for his successes; acknowledging God on the field when he completes a pass, or makes a touchdown; and bowing on the field in grateful prayer, which has become known as “Tebowing”.  Yeah, that’s controversial.  Players can dance around, pat themselves on the back, and create all kinds of commotion when they score, but if Tim quietly bows in a quick silent prayer on the sidelines, it’s controversial!  Yep, Tim Tebow, is my favorite!

So!  There’s our pro-life list of individuals that I will be proud to support in 2012!
