Over the Edge?

So about The Edgy Truth website…yeah, it’s come up a few times via sharing on Facebook and email. This website is one that many people love to share and cite “information”.

But wait a minute. Let’s take a look at this site. Can we believe them? Are they trustworthy? For starters, nothing is ever resourced or foot noted. Well now, that’s a red flag, wouldn’t you say? There is no author, EVER, noted in any of their articles. It is almost impossible to find out just who is behind The Edgy Truth. The best I could do is find out who the Domain name the Edgy Truth is registered to. http://www.behinddomain.com/www/edgytruth.com

The server that is used is Go Daddy and the name is registered to a man by the name of Jamie Albano. A Google search of Jamie reveals he is a family man whose business is creating and maintaining websites. It looks like he has a very successful business. Now, just because he is listed as the registrant, does not mean he is behind the politics and writings of the Edgy Truth. He may be listed as the registrant only because he designed the site. Perhaps someone wanted to remain anonymous and asked Jamie to keep the registration in his name. Having created a few websites myself, I know that would certainly be easier and quite likely. Jamie Albano certainly doesn’t take credit for any of the information contained on the site. No one does.

Mr. Albano’s business website apparently is internetchum.com, but there is no mention of the Edgy Truth there and certainly no mention of Albano’s politics. It is my opinion, he is simply the hired and paid builder/maintainer of the Edgy Truth website.

Shouldn’t the anonymity of the Edgy Truth make us wonder?? It certainly makes me wonder. And further, there is a lengthy disclaimer on the Edgy Truth’s site. Let me quote a part of that disclaimer which should concern us all – or at least give us another “red flag”:
 “…we make no representations or warranties of any kind, express or implied, about the completeness, accuracy, reliability, suitability or availability with respect to the website and related social media pages, or the information, products, services, or related graphics contained on the website and related social media pages for any purpose.”
Someone is certainly protecting themselves from any repercussions of false, or inaccurate stories. Yes, disclaimers are sometimes warranted, but this one seems to go over the top in its warnings for a site that claims to be a “Truth Information Resource” site.

And while the disclaimer mentions its staff, founders and contributors, one would be hard-pressed to find out exactly who these staffers/contributors are. I tried. I could find no names on the site at all. And upon trying a google search, I found little information about the site’s beginnings. Please let me know if you do. I could certainly delve into a conspiracy theory all my own on these important missing facts.

I for one, do not like blindly accepting information from a site that has become this popular without knowing who is behind it. Why would I believe them? At the very least, they could foot note their facts which would lead me somewhere to prove what they say. But that just isn’t the case. There are a few links to other sites within certain articles on Edgy Truth. But guess what? The links that I followed all led to radical anti-government, conspiracy filled websites that also do not and cannot back up their facts.

Why would we believe the Edgy Truth? For some, it is because it fits what they already believe, or want to believe. For others, it is about promoting an agenda they seek to fulfill. Many are being led astray because they are not thinking things through or verifying what they read. They follow blindly accepting whomever it is behind the articles they are taking to heart. And that is dangerous.

I hate to think where all of this could take us. Seems to me it leads us down a dangerous path that gets us nowhere near to truth; but rather, over the edge of disclaimers and swallowed up in misrepresentations and maybe even outright lies.

Now I certainly haven't read every article on the Edgy Truth site. I have come across many I have questioned. We need to be cautious wherever we are reading! There are some sites out there that claim to be a "satirical site" thereby getting away with writing out and out lies that readers believe as truth. The authors of such sites know few people will read their "satirical" claim and instead will simply believe what has been written in their article which is supposedly filled with satire. But people believe it as truth!! The sad thing is they get away with swaying public opinion with their deception.

Other sites will publish an article they know is not true just to get traffic to their site. They simply have to print a retraction later which in turn gets more traffic to their site! Why are we so careless in what we believe?!

With an internet full of "information", trickery, and fool-hardiness on just about any topic one could imagine, we all need to be careful and check facts before we blindly follow.

A Call Is A Call

We are seeing a situation that is out of control at our southern border. It almost seems to be a situation without a solution. However, there is an answer already in place if we would follow it, and that is the Rule of Law. Just as we can’t pick and choose which Bible verses we want to obey, or disregard, we cannot pick and chose which laws we want to follow or ignore. The laws regarding immigration into our great land need to be adhered to…period. To not follow the Rule of Law, but to try to pick and choose, is only to create chaos; which is exactly what we are seeing at our borders.

We have heard liberal politicians and media pundits, such as James Carvelle, telling us that the churches need to pick up the slack to help these children at our borders.  The churches are willing, but we have also heard reports of the churches not being allowed.

Recently one of the major denominations has stated that help from them has been requested by the government as long as they don’t speak about Jesus. No proselytizing allowed!

I get frustrated over situations like this. This is America and we are told we can't speak about Jesus!!!

I believe I am doing what I can to protect our Constitutional rights for this very reason, i.e. to prevent the government from preventing me from sharing my faith! We have a First Amendment that allows us freedom of religion and freedom of speech to express our faith. The government cannot stop us. I believe it is my call from God to help protect this God-given right.

 Missions are vital to the Christian faith. But the truth of the matter is, missions begin right here at home. The situation at the border is a perfect example of the chaos we endure when our Constitution is ignored. Christians are being kept from a very important mission field; we have been kept from doing what we are commanded in Scripture – the Great Commission!!

In the way of missions within the church, there seems to be a bit of arrogance and pride that we are seeing sometimes in the way of overseas missions.  Somehow, there are some that believe those that go abroad are more holy or more in tune to God’s Word, than those that merely stay in their lowly existence here at home - “plodding along” - as stated by some.

Perhaps those with that belief don’t have full understanding of the call on ones life to help maintain and uphold that which gives us the ability to be missionaries in the first place.

Defending this basic right is just as important, if not more important, than a trip overseas or sending money. We need to do all of it! I don’t understand why there are those that would attack Christians for what they believe is their calling just because they have a political bent. God needs and has ordained those people too. They are the ones that allow missions - overseas, or at home -  to continue.

These illegal immigrants at the border (though some are just children) need to be sent home to be protected by their parents. They are in a danger zone. Parents need to be told their families need to come here through the proper channels - legally. But at the same time, Christians need to step up to the plate and help where they can until proper action is taken in regard to these illegal immigrants. Until then, this is a mission field not to be ignored. This administration wants their cake and eat it too. They want help from Christians, but Christians dare not speak of their faith. That is ridiculous! Our right is protected by the First Amendment.

By this example, we can see without a doubt supporting and defending our Constitutional rights is just as important to missions as sending money, or going to a foreign land. But somehow, some in the church attack those who are political while elevating the status of a missionary overseas. I really don’t know why we don’t give credit to each and allow God to use individuals in their own calling and gifts.

Christians are needed everywhere, in every venue, wherever they are called. And we should work together to support each other in all of our endeavors.

Take Action for Saeed Abedini

This is a very important letter to write.
Everything has already done for you. It could not be more simple as this American pastor suffers.

Please take a moment of your time.

The Enemy of my Enemy

I was shocked when I saw it.  Well, I guess not really shocked; it seems to be a popular refrain these days. "Quit sending [X] billion dollars of our tax payer money to Israel." the sign read...and I'm sorry, but I missed the exact dollar amount that the bill board stated.

Good grief! I thought to myself; more of the same. Sounds so noble, doesn't it? I mean shouldn't we keep our tax payer dollars for ourselves when we are 16 trillion dollars in debt?  Probably so. And I would understand and not be looking for ulterior motives, if the sign had read "Quit sending 1.7 billion dollars of our taxpayer money to the MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD."!!  But when someone singles out Israel, one has to question why. Or at least we should!! And the truth is: we are sending 1.7 billion dollars of taxpayer money to our enemy - the Muslim Brotherhood; so why does anyone want to focus on Israel?

I am a supporter of Israel; I always have been and I always will be. I believe we are instructed to be  in Scripture: Psalm 122: 6 and Genesis 12:3 for starters. I also believe that the answer to our success and protection (personally, and as a nation) is given to us when we are obedient to that command.

For better understanding of why the bill board message is so offensive, please watch the video clip below. You may or may not agree with Sid Roth - as a Messianic Christian his doctrine, I suppose, can be somewhat controversial. But this video clip holds some very important information that everyone should see. The guest on his show this week is probably one of the most knowledgeable terrorist experts alive, today.

His name is Erick Stakelbeck, author of The Terrorist Next Door and The Muslim Brotherhood.
I first learned about Erick on CBN where he hosted his show Stakelbeck on Terror. He has since made guest appearances on Fox, CNN and Glenn Beck, as well as numerous radio shows. His new show, The Watchman, can now be seen on Dish Network and Direct TV as well as CBN.

I have read both of Mr. Stakelbeck's books and I highly recommend them. This man knows his stuff, and while it may seem to some that much of what he says is too far-fetched to believe, he does, without a doubt, have an accurate pulse on what is taking place in America - all backed up with facts and personal experience. These are not scare tactics used by someone trying to make money for selfish gain or agenda.  This man has a heart for God and an understanding and sense of purpose that can only be God ordained.

In his plain spoken and easy manner, he explains answers to questions that many have had, but cannot seem to get an answer. Erick tackles those difficult questions from a Biblical perspective and with reasoning that causes all things to fall into place. You will understand the title to my post after you have watched.

His calling and efforts are quite possibly one of the best evangelistic tools we have available to us at this time. He is offering a way to achieve the Great Commission given to us by Jesus in Matthew 28: 16-20. At the same time, he is doing what he believes God has called him to do: "Help My people."

Please take a few moments to watch. It's really alright to educate ourselves on this matter, and both Erick and Sid say it so much better. I simply want to help, too.

It's Time! And YES! It Matters!

Remember, I told you in my last post that there would come a time that we must act...well, it's time.  This Benghazi issue is not going to go away and it shouldn't!   It is a travesty that this has happened and that the cover-up continues.  Please read former Senator Santorum's letter below and sign this petition. It could not be more easy and will only take about 2 minutes of your time. Click on one of the red links below and it will take you to Patriot Voices to add your name to this important list. There comes a time that we must act.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's been eight months since the terror attacks in Benghazi and I couldn't agree with Rep. Trey Gowdy more: "There's no statute of limitations on the truth."
Our Ambassador to Libya and three brave Americans were killed in the attacks and their families, along with the American people, have yet to hear the full story. Join me in demanding a full congressional hearing on the Benghazi tragedy.
The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee hearing is a good first step, but many questions remain:
   - Has there been a cover-up with the Benghazi tragedy?
   - Why didn't the United States send military assistance to Libya when the attacks began?
   - Why did United Nations Ambassador Susan Rice appear on five Sunday morning talk shows and say the attacks were instead demonstrations as a result of a YouTube video?
   - Were the talking points altered two months before the presidential election in order to fit the Obama Administration's narrative that al Qaeda was on its heels?
  - Why did it take so long for the Obama administration to admit this was an act of terror?
Two words are all you need to take away from the Benghazi hearing - "it matters." One of the three state department whistleblowers choked back tears as he told committee members that "it matters" for all involved to get the full story on Benghazi.
Surely you share the sentiment that "it matters" these victims' families have gone through a Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, Easter and no doubt birthdays without their loved ones.
It matters that they find closure.
It matters that we learn the truth.
It matters that we can trust our administration.
It matters that we take steps to make sure this never happens again.
Sincerely,
Rick Santorum
