The Other Side of Interruptions

Well we now have the Vice Presidential debate behind us. It started out poorly. I didn't think I would be able to make it through. I am a political junkie, and I knew if I didn't want to watch it, the majority of the people would not. But being the junkie I am, I decided I would power through.

For starters, the Democratic candidate, Tim Kaine, interrupted over and over and over. I thought about counting his interruptions, but I knew the pundits would indeed count for me and I could find out later. To be exact, there were 72 intrusions by Kaine; in 90 minutes time! Good grief!!

But perhaps what bothered me most was that within the first 10 minutes, Kaine had invoked the Christian "faith" in one manner or another, three times. Now, I don't have a problem with candidates talking about our faith. In fact, I think it is imperative they do. But I want it to be sincere and real. Now perhaps Kaine is sincere about his faith. I am not questioning that. He is Catholic and he is proud of that fact. But it is his party that voted God out of their Democratic platform in 2012 during their national convention.

For their candidate to deliberately invoke this topic when it wasn't even in the parameters of the question is a bit hypocritical, in my mind. And it is a heartbreaking fact that there is far too much in the Democratic platform that is contrary to the Bible and Christian faith  - i.e. abortion and gay marriage for two examples.

But the comments didn't really surprise me. The Democrats have long used this tactic. They absolutely know they must bring up faith to garner votes. In fact, having watched them for some time, I have often seen them use Republican policies and claim them as their own. They are pro-God when needed; they are pro-2nd Amendment only when needed; pro-military and veteran, only as needed. They cloak the abortion issue in a soft, comfortable wrap of pro-choice. "Leave it to the states" is their out. Or, "A woman is intelligent enough to know what is best for her life."

You would think it was a Republican on stage with many of the points the Democrats will try to make. They talk the talk in a debate like this, but their policies when it comes to action are completely the reverse. This isn't the first time this has happened. It is so interesting to me that they do this! They KNOW they must move right in order to get votes. That should tell us a lot about our nation. We are far more conservative than the left and the media pundits would have us believe! They are using the naïveté of our citizens for their own benefit. After they win, they simply move forward with their liberal and destructive policies. Tim Kaine didn't fool everyone, however. He fully revealed who he truly is, in my opinion.

For me, the best part of the debate came toward the end when they were asked about their faith. Both men were gracious and sincere. Mike Pence was especially thoughtful and bold with an honest testimony of his faith; speaking of a personal relationship with Jesus and when he had come to know our Lord as his Savior. Jesus is the reason for his strong convictions which he has not and will not compromise.

Another minor thing I noted, but was important to me, was that whenever a Scripture was spoken, or even a poignant quote from a past leader, the interruptions stopped. It was as if everyone knew this "word" was worth listening to. The importance drew us all to the power of what was being said.

All in all, I am thankful I stuck it out and watched the debate. I believe much was revealed about the character of each man. Truly the best part was in the final moments and if you were one that just couldn't stick it out, as I have heard so many claim, you can watch the most important segment in the video below.

Take it in slowly and listen to the other side of the interruptions....well, almost.

Heads Up from Hal

September 23rd, 2016

No, you're not experiencing deja vu. Yes, you found this message from me in your mailbox last week.

You are receiving it again because last week, due to circumstances beyond our control, the delivery of this scheduled program to our various broadcast partners was interrupted.

So we are presenting that edition of "The Hal Lindsey Report" this week. I thought you should be reminded of what this week's program will cover. So here we go again.

Well, maybe that is just a little deja vu!

ON THIS WEEK'S "HAL LINDSEY REPORT":

The mainstream media barely mentioned it. They're preoccupied with the presidential campaigns.

And besides, the United Nations Security Council has met before in emergency session to discuss North Korea -- and nothing happened. How was the emergency session on September 9 any different?

It's true. North Korea and its weapons testing has been the subject of past UN Security Council meetings. And though official action has been adopted, nothing of any great consequence has ever resulted.

But North Korea's most recent weapons testing is different for a couple of reasons. First, the nuclear devices NK exploded a few days ago were more powerful than anything they've tested before. Probably because the North Koreans claim to have developed hydrogen bombs.

Second, it now appears that North Korea has achieved the capacity -- or will soon have it -- to mount these weapons on ballistic missiles.

This point is critical because earlier in the same week, they also successfully launched three medium-range missiles. Those missiles traveled more than 600 miles. That puts South Korea, Japan, and parts of China within reach.

Maybe that's why China acknowledged that the North Korean tests "shocked the world."

To further complicate matters, just a few weeks ago, North Korea successfully launched submarine-based ballistic missiles. That puts every coastal city in the world at risk.

And even though the left-leaning media tries to imply that North Korea is isolated from the world and poses no real threat, that's simply not true. Iran and NK have been partners in crime since the Iranian Revolution of 1979. And Pakistan furnished the expertise to help NK build the nuclear devices.

Further, The Korea Times is reporting that last May North Korea and Cuba started holding talks to strengthen their friendship.

What does this mean for the United States and the world? Well, North Korea is starving for cash (its people are literally starving), but they have weapons of mass destruction. And thanks to President Obama, Iran is newly flush with cash and desperate for those weapons of mass destruction. That's a marriage made in hell.

But that's just one possibility. Under President Obama's leadership, the world has experienced the worst nuclear proliferation ever. Nations that had never pursued nuclear weapons before are now active customers in the nukes market. Japan and South Korea will probably start their own nuclear weapons programs as a deterrent to North Korea.

Since the west has decided to allow Iran to join the nuclear club soon, other nations in the Middle East are actively shopping for places to purchase nuclear arsenals as a deterrent to the neighborhood bully. We're not just seeing a proliferation of these weapons, but an explosion of them.

You know, this all started back in 1994 when then President Bill Clinton decided to humor North Korea and make his own toothless "nuclear deal" with them. They promptly accepted all the goodies from the US, then reneged on the deal and proceeded to develop their own weapons.

Sound familiar? Foreign policy blunders live on well beyond the President who made them.

But none of this surprises students of Bible prophecy. In several passages, the Bible depicts future events that are eerily (and accurately) descriptive of nuclear warfare.

That's just another way we're seeing the whole world take the shape foretold by the ancient Bible prophets thousands of years ago.

Other interesting things are happening in Asia, as well.

The G-20 Summit was recently held in Hangzhou, China. President Obama attended, along with at least 19 other world leaders. But when he arrived aboard Air Force One, the Chinese hosts didn't bother to lay out the red carpet.

They didn't even roll the mobile stairway up to the door of the President's plane. He was forced to exit the plane by the built-in rear stairwell.

Further, on the tarmac, Chinese officials were rude to high-ranking members of the American delegation and some in the US press contingent.

Not a nice way to treat your largest customer. But China is obviously piqued at the US or at President Obama.

Probably because China wants to claim all of the South China Sea as its own and the rest of the world won't agree to it. Not the rest of the nations in the area. Not the United Nations. Not the World Court at The Hague. And especially not the United States.

In fact, in March President Obama specifically warned Chinese leader Xi Jinping not to build military installations on the Scarborough Shoal in the South China Sea, near the Philippines. But they're doing it anyway.

So the United States and its allies have been sending warships into the international waters near China and warplanes to fly close to China's airspace. All in an effort to emphasize that these are international lanes of commerce and China is not going to claim them and control them.

China isn't pleased. And they're not happy about President Obama's so-called "Asia Pivot." That means he sees America's future as aligned less with Europe and the Middle East and more with Asia.

Partly because the markets there are growing so fast. And partly because we want to rein in Asia's growing menace -- China.

Most observers believe that China refuses to stop North Korea from its madcap dash to nuclear capability so that it will continue to keep that part of the world off-balance and in turmoil. That distracts the rest of the world from the ferocious pace of China's drive to hegemony in Asia.

Whatever is really happening there, it is definitely worth watching. China has enormous wealth and technical expertise. China is aggressive and often hostile. And China figures prominently in the Bible prophecies about the "Kings of the East" in the last days.

As does Russia, of course. And it has gotten even more intriguing since my last program. See how quickly things are unfolding in the end-times scenario?

Last week, we learned that Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas was on the KGB payroll in the 1980s. As was Russian President Vladimir Putin. Abbas's code name was "Mole."

The information was discovered in a British archive of KGB agents from that period. Though the Palestinian Authority is trying to deny it, it makes sense. Abbas headed a Palestinian-Soviet friendship foundation during that time.

And now that the US is turning away from involvement in the Middle East and focusing on Asia, many people are pushing for Russia to become the new broker for peace between Israel and the Palestinians.

A Hollywood screenwriter couldn't construct this intricate a plot, but the Bible's ancient prophets did. And they did it thousands of years ago.

Couple this bizarre turn of events with the alarming rise of antisemitism across Europe and into the Middle East and it's undeniable that the pace is quickening.

Recently, Israel's Ambassador to the United Nations noted that hatred of Jews and the demonization of Israel has reached "the highest level of our lifetimes."

Again, just as the Bible predicted.

Folks, if you have never accepted the forgiveness of sin that Jesus Christ purchased with His death on the cross, NOW is the time to do it. The race to the end is accelerating as never before. Time is short. It cannot be too long before Jesus will return to snatch away the true believers of this earth. You do not want to be left behind.

This week, I am going to discuss "Redemption" and show you how you can be ransomed and released from the "Certificate of Debt" that hangs outside your cell door. There is only one way out. You must be "redeemed." And only one Man can do it for you.

Slam Dunk

The debate season has started! The television pundits are giving endless commentary. I want to weigh in with a notion I have not yet heard anyone mention.

Regarding Hillary's accusation during the recent debate when she claimed "Trump has paid zero taxes":  For starters, how does Hillary know? She is at the same time blasting him for not releasing his taxes. There is no way she can truthfully make the claim he has paid nothing. It was just another one of her lies that she appears to be so comfortable in spewing.

Secondly, he did NOT say, "I'm smart," when she accused him of paying no taxes. I believe he said "I'd be smart." He later explained that he meant, "That would make me smart." In other words, if that were indeed the case, (that he had paid no taxes) that would make him very smart. Regardless, it was a difficult point to make at the time, because Hillary was still talking. But I believe his post-debate explanation is accurate, because I have heard him say the same thing in the past.

However, I do believe Trump missed the boat with his answer to that nefarious charge. I don't know; maybe he didn't get the chance to explain when it came his turn. He had been placed on the defensive. Maybe the moderator changed the subject. I would have to review the tape to be certain. But to me, his answer should have been fairly simple and extremely important. I think his answer should have been a slam dunk.

He needs to remind America when the tax issue comes up again of one of the best attributes Trump has going for him. "But I have created thousands of jobs for people who HAVE paid taxes." In that regard, I have paid more taxes than most Americans. BUT even more importantly, I have created jobs that have put food on the table, a roof overhead, and paid the electric bill for thousands of families!"

That is the best answer Mr. Trump can give, in my opinion. It will come up again. It is something the left loves to use to attack him. The left doesn't seem to like success.

We have laws created to help businesses succeed. There is nothing wrong with using those laws to aid ones business; rather it is imperative for a flourishing society. Business is the back bone of our society. I thank God for people who have done well enough to create businesses that give people jobs.

Isn't that what Capitalism is about? We are a Capitalistic society, so designed by our Founders, because that is the system that is best for a nation. And in America's case, also best for the world! We are a benevolent society. We have helped more nations than any other nation because of the monetary success of our citizens. The United Nations often blasts America for not giving enough to other nations. That's because they do not understand (or want to admit) that we are a nation that does not believe we should give charity from the government, but rather from the compassion of the private citizen! That is exactly what we do! And indeed! Our government gives plenty, too! The truth is The United States has done more for other nations than any other nation on earth.

It is Capitalism that allows for us to be a generous society. It is really what our Founders intended. They didn't want the government to be handing out money to citizens. They had learned that that idea didn't work at Jamestown in 1610! So instead they followed the Biblical principal of 2 Thessalonians 3:10: "For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: "If a man will not work, he shall not eat." Our Capitalistic society is based on this verse.

I have no idea what Trump has declared on his taxes in the way of charity; nor does anyone, save Trump and his accountant. But what does that matter anyway? He would simply get blasted for declaring it, with people saying he shouldn't expect to receive a tax break for his giving as rich as he is. He should just give! I absolutely believe that is what we would hear from the liberal left media. Truthfully, I really don't care what he has declared. I have seen a good number of people come forward and give testimony to how he has helped them financially with his generous contributions and support. That's what Capitalism allows!

I am afraid we have raised up a society that simply does not understand our system. We have been engrained in recent years with a socialist mindset that encourages far too many to believe the government should be taking care of us. The government should give us this, the government should take care of that. This mindset is exactly why we are 20 trillion dollars in debt. It has to end. And it has to begin with educating our citizens with the true design of our nation and how Capitalism works.

Mr. Trump needs to learn and grow. We all do. At least he knows it. And I have every confidence he will. He always has.

Thoughts?
