The Right Track

As expected, there has been a whole lot of commentary about President Trump's inauguration speech. Pundits are weighing in on television, talk radio, and of course magazines and newspapers.

Some claim Trump's speech was a "populist" speech. Some are lamenting that it revealed far too much "nationalism" - that it was a selfish, greedy, isolationist speech. Some have noted it was a "capitalistic" speech. Other than it being greedy, selfish and isolationist, I agree with all of those assessments. One could make a case for each.

Regardless, it showed, clearly, that Donald Trump is keeping his promise to the American people. That is really what this speech reflected. He was speaking directly to Americans and letting us know he understands exactly why we elected him. He was simply reiterating what he had always said while campaigning. This was closing the deal, so to speak. He was letting us know that he heard America's voices loud and clear; and that is exactly what he will be acting on. It is what his base required of him and he is responding in accordance.

One cannot make the case it is selfish, greedy or isolationist. Please allow me to explain.

First of all Nationalism is NOT evil. It is God-given; and we should be good stewards of whatever it is that God has given us.

That God created the nations is an indisputable fact! It is a truth without question.

The Bible tells us in Acts 17:26:  "And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;"

But we have also been shown this truth throughout the history of man.

For example, the Tower of Babel, created by man and confounded by God, is explained in Genesis 11. Simply and concisely explained for this article, they were trying to build an idol to heaven. When the Lord saw this, He confounded their language, and the end result was people who could no longer communicate and thus were hindered in their endeavor.

"From there the Lord scattered them over the face of the whole earth." The end result was nations.

Secondly, God designated specific land and boundaries and gave them to Abraham, as also explained in Genesis.

Finally, another proof of God's desire for nations is His end times warning of a one world government. The nations, and specifically Israel, were created for a time clock which serves as an evangelical tool for Christians.  Boundaries were promised and set. But I am getting too far from topic now; that discussion is for another post. Suffice it to say, a one world government is not His intent. That is, until Jesus returns again. Until then, there is a need for nations.

If nations and boundaries were God's intent, why then are we so afraid of them? Why do we look at them as something evil? Why are we afraid to grow and support our own nation? Why is it suddenly evil to feel a sense of pride for one's nation? This is a relatively new phenomena. Capitalism and Nationalism - even American Exceptionalism - used to be seen as good things and something for which we were grateful.

Personally, I believe the current negativism we are seeing is because we have had an abundance of leftist teaching in our schools, media, and more recently, even our churches. Contrary to what is being taught, Nationalism should be seen as the means to being good stewards to what God has given us.

There is nothing greedy about Capitalism. It is Capitalism that grows a nation's economy. America MUST be strong in order to keep bringing aid to the world which is a primary necessity for enabling us to share the Gospel. How are we going to be able to help those in need, if we let ourselves spiral downward into citizens that can barely take care of ourselves, let alone offer gifts of benevolence to others? There is a distinct lack of understanding by many, especially in  the millennial generation, in regard to why America must remain strong and successful. If people cannot understand this, it is because they absolutely do not understand Capitalism and have been taught to believe it is something greedy and evil.

If we are strong as individuals, our nation will be strong. If we win, other nations win. That has always been the case. For the past eight years we have been blasted with the rhetoric that describes us an Imperialistic nation only out for ourselves - that we are out to control the world. America is NOT and never has been an Imperialistic nation. Under the Obama administration, this belief especially became more widespread. But what nation have we ever tried to take over or control? Dinesh D'Souza does a fantastic job of explaining this inaccurate description in his book Obama's America. America has in the past, always understood the need for strength in order to show benevolence to those around the world who have far less wealth. It is what we have always done!

Our nation was created with the Founders intentions for benevolence to come from the individual, not the government who then could attach strings to their lives and control them. They had learned their lesson from Jamestown, and had it not been for John Smith taking 2 Thessalonians 3:10 to heart and putting it into action, they would have never been successful. "If you do not work, neither shall you eat." So to say we are not Christian if we don't allow for the welfare state is simply inaccurate and extremely destructive to our system. Jimmy Carter has long been one of the chief players in promoting this false narrative.
A man who simply doesn't get it.
Or, is he more dangerously one that wants to mislead us?

Furthermore, to say we are a selfish people because we want strong borders is a farce. You cannot allow laws to be broken in the name of compassion. It breaks down all other laws and the strength of a nation to protect their own citizens, which is the first role of government. We are a nation of laws which must be respected. With the President's latest executive order regarding immigrants coming into our nation, the left has been thrown into a tizzy; all of them suddenly becoming so godly and concerned with our Christian nation not acting like one.

Finally if we are to remain strong - to be a beacon of light to the world - we must insist on peace through strength. We must have a strong military in order to accomplish the kind of strength that will deter others from trying to take advantage of us. Our military might cannot be torn down as it was under the Obama administration -  to pre WWII levels. We must grow and empower our military, not use it as a social experiment. Our homeland must, above all, be protected. That is the purpose of our government. The government's primary role is to protect the people.

The liberal left trying to make us look like we are not Christ-like is laughable when one considers they have relentlessly tried to remove God from every aspect of our lives. Schools, government, television - you name it. God is not welcomed there. This is all a false narrative, false accusations to try to lead people to another way of thinking. God did not intend nations to set themselves up as sitting ducks, in order for other nations and peoples to take advantage.

President Trump is on the right track and we need to pay attention, be alert, be on our knees and help him get there.

At the Forefront of My Mind

Just a few things that come to mind as I consider what I see on social media this morning. It isn't even an exhaustive list...simply things that are at the forefront of my mind as I type them out.

  • Israel has just been denounced by UNESCO saying they have no right to the Temple Mount. (https://www.cruz.senate.gov/?p=press_release&id=2857)
  • Israel is under relentless attack.
  • Our nation is turning our back on Israel, against God's commands.
  • Christians are being tortured and persecuted around the world and the US does nothing.
  • Iran just bombed two of our Navy ships. (http://www.allenbwest.com/allen/forget-groping-fear-may-real-october-surprise)
  • We have a President who allowed it and supported it by making a deal with Iran that only helps radical Islam and gave millions of dollars that ended up in their hands - just as predicted.
  • Russia and China are aligning.
  • Hillary is saying she will limit the 2nd Amendment and do away with the NRA.
  • Abortion is ok at 36 weeks.
  • Illegal's are coming across our borders and voting in our elections.
  • Illegal's are not being sent back because their country won't take them.
  • ISIS has infiltrated Syrian refugees that are coming into our country without being vetted.
  • Hillary Clinton lied to Congress.
  • Hillary Clinton destroyed evidence after receiving a Congressional Subpoena.
  • Hillary Clinton funneled funds from foreign nations to favor her political endeavors and line her own pockets.
  • Hillary Clinton ripped off the people of Haiti through her phony charitable foundation.
  • Hillary Clinton attacked her husband's mistresses as recently as this election cycle! But we attack Trump for his comments against women years ago.
  • Hillary Clinton says there is a "private" Hillary Clinton and a "public" Hillary Clinton and that is ok, because citizens wouldn't understand what she has to say.
  • Hillary Clinton got the rapist of a teenage girl off on rape charges and then laughed about it during an interview.
  • Hillary Clinton has been investigated by the FBI and found to have put national security at risk.
  • Black Lives Matters have subsided their riots already having done their damage, but knowing full well to continue would push more votes in the direction of Donald Trump.
  • Police are still under attack and being killed in our streets.
  • Democrats voted God out of their party platform in 2012.
  • Hillary will allow amnesty which will change the demographics forever - that means a Republican will never win again, because illegal immigrants vote Democratic because of the freebies they allow and for allowing them to stay illegally.
  • We closed our eyes to the mauling and murder of a United States Ambassador in Benghazi and the murder of good men that went in to try to save him. (http://www.kristantoparonto.com/)
  • Unconstitutional Obamacare!
  • Hillary Clinton belittled and used language directed at her Secret Service that is worse than anything Donald Trump ever said.
  • As many as 3 -5 Supreme Court Justices could be appointed by the next President and if it is Hillary those Justices will incorrectly support all of the above!!
  • We watch and laugh at Two Broke Girls; Will and Grace; oh goodness, I don't even know the names of the off-color television comedies that are out now...but someone does!!!
  • We listen to rap music that advocates killing cops; and use language no one should ever have to listen to.
  • We wink at BeyoncĂ© and Miley Cyrus and allow our girls to see them as role models. (http://www.newsmax.com/Headline/limbaugh-michelle-obama-hypocrite-slams/2016/10/13/id/753286/)

But we are upset about a tape from 11 years ago and some allegations that have come forward from as much as 30 years ago which magically come to light right before the election...yeah, that is believable!! But were it true, when does someone on the "right" ever receive grace and credit for a changed heart????

And only NOW our citizens are finally speaking out? But only about language and an 11 year old tape from Donald Trump? And unsupported accusations from women which make no sense after so much time?????? Wouldn't they have brought charges and sued the billionaire at the time???

I kinda wish those that are coming to life (politically) would just go back and stick their heads in the sand where they have been staying for so long.

Unless they are going to educate themselves, yeah that is my deepest wish!!!

Dear Christian,

Suddenly I am reminded of the O.J. Simpson trial. You know! When the liberal left media made a worse crime out of some words said by an LAPD Detective found on a tape from 20 years prior than the actual crime that had taken place. Yeah, that crime; that horrendous murder that caught all of our attention in 1993. The creep that slashed the throat of his wife, leaving her in a pool of blood, while their young daughter and son slept upstairs didn't endure anywhere near the attack from the media that Mark Fuhrman endured when the defense team went after him. But don't worry about that!! Let's convict the police officer on the case because he said the infamous "N" word some 20 years prior when he was a young police officer working on the streets of LA. Despicable name-calling! Now that's horrendous!  No, I am not condoning what he said, but neither do I want to blame someone for something unrelated 20 years earlier! I hope that I will always give someone credit for the possibility of change after 20 years time. The brutal murder almost got lost in the narrative during that debacle of a trial! And O.J. was acquitted.

God help us!! Don't underestimate the change that that trial brought to our nation!

Now once again every one is coming out to distance themselves from the Donald. They don't like what he has said! A tape has suddenly appeared with the Republican candidate saying things no one should ever say and truthfully none of us should have to hear.

The people who are bringing the issue are of course the media, the left, and those in the Republican Party that had, in truth, already been having a problem with their party nominee. These critics of the same party are trying to distance themselves as quickly and as far from Trump as is humanly possible.

I will admit, this is a tough one. I don't want to defend Trump's comments and language either. But it certainly isn't like we have never heard it before. I know; it is indeed despicable!! And Trump was not my choice in the primaries.  My case against Trump was that we want our Presidential candidate to be held to a higher standard than anyone else. And that is perfectly acceptable to desire that! Really a President should be above all the fray! But (and that is a mighty big but) we didn't get that!! The people legally and rightfully chose Trump! And we are left to deal with the results! We are not going to do any good by joining the ranks of those that attack him! There are some things that are more important than vice. And that is saving our nation from the free-fall we have been experiencing the last 8 years; because if we don't, we will experience even greater debauchery, corruption and filth.

Yes, I know it is tough! The first thing that came to my mind after I was over my cringing from watching the video, was "wait a minute! He has just RECENTLY claimed to be a new creature in Christ!" There have been rock solid Christians who have vouched and given testimony to that fact. The video was 11 years ago. When does a person get to rise above his past, and be like every other Christian who claims they have been washed whiter than snow by the blood of Jesus? When does someone get to be done with having his past continually thrown back in his face? Now I don't expect grace to be given from non-believers, or the media. That is just what they are gonna do!! But I certainly DO expect it from believers who claim they are born again and given a new life in Jesus. If they get that freedom and grace, why doesn't Trump? Yet some of these Christians in the political arena who have a platform to speak are the first to bash him, like they are somehow holier and more righteous. Wrong. We have the same Savior who washed the same sin. They seem to relish the fact that they can now say, "SEE I TOLD YOU SO!" That is what is most important to them, it seems.

And what about it Christian? Ever laugh at an off-color joke? Ever take part in locker-room banter? What about the television shows we watch? How in the world did Roseanne, Golden Girls, Friends, Will and Grace, and Two Broke Girls (you get the idea) become so popular? Someone is watching those shows. And someone is allowing them to be shown. None of us have room to talk, except by the blood of Jesus. But we won't allow that for Donald Trump.

I've heard some language from Christians. I listened to some pretty despicable words. I have witnessed the books read and television shows that we, Christians accept. We are not much different anymore, than Trump in the things we participate. We only pretend.

And for the record, I absolutely believe that video was a set-up to trap Trump all those years ago. Someone, in my opinion, wanted to keep the tape on file when it would someday be used to embarrass, humiliate or maybe even black-mail Trump. The hug afterward? Come-on! Someone was ready and prepared with audio and cameras. Think that's far-fetched? I can think of other examples that appeared to be set-ups. David Petraeus, for one. Even the video taped affair of Frank Gifford could have been a set-up to silence the conservative Kathie Lee, in my humble opinion. The media is evil and relentless in whom they want to attack.

Why is this like the O.J. case? Because Hillary Clinton has done far worse things than Donald Trump. Trump didn't leave men to die in a far off foreign land when they pleaded time and time again for help! Trump hasn't lied to Congress (a felony) and destroyed and tampered with evidence! Trump hasn't taken foreign contributions through a phony "charitable" foundation.

Further, Hillary Clinton's comments about women during the Clinton "reign" are every bit as offensive as Trump's. Her attacks on the women that her husband had affairs with and even physically attacked were far more dangerous that Trumps childish "locker-room" conversation. But one would never know that by the way the media is spinning it.

Time and situations change people. When does one get to leave the past behind and become a better person? The white-washed tomb becomes clean if we Christians truly believe what we claim.

Just like the terrible outcome of the O.J. Simpson case, we have once again made the things Trump has said 11 years ago something that is far worse than the things Hillary has done, in her most recent political tenure. That case so many years ago hurt our nation and this will, too. We ALL need to rise above this discourse.

Here's to Mark Fuhrman and everyone else who has been undone by a biased media! He rose above the fray and the media attacks that, at the time, were simply regurgitated by our citizens trying to insinuate he was something he was not. The LAPD detective long ago (and ever since) has proved his fine character. Maybe we should give Trump a chance to do that, too! I am pretty sure the media is not capable of that, but I at least expect it from my fellow Christians.
