Dear Christian,

Suddenly I am reminded of the O.J. Simpson trial. You know! When the liberal left media made a worse crime out of some words said by an LAPD Detective found on a tape from 20 years prior than the actual crime that had taken place. Yeah, that crime; that horrendous murder that caught all of our attention in 1993. The creep that slashed the throat of his wife, leaving her in a pool of blood, while their young daughter and son slept upstairs didn't endure anywhere near the attack from the media that Mark Fuhrman endured when the defense team went after him. But don't worry about that!! Let's convict the police officer on the case because he said the infamous "N" word some 20 years prior when he was a young police officer working on the streets of LA. Despicable name-calling! Now that's horrendous!  No, I am not condoning what he said, but neither do I want to blame someone for something unrelated 20 years earlier! I hope that I will always give someone credit for the possibility of change after 20 years time. The brutal murder almost got lost in the narrative during that debacle of a trial! And O.J. was acquitted.

God help us!! Don't underestimate the change that that trial brought to our nation!

Now once again every one is coming out to distance themselves from the Donald. They don't like what he has said! A tape has suddenly appeared with the Republican candidate saying things no one should ever say and truthfully none of us should have to hear.

The people who are bringing the issue are of course the media, the left, and those in the Republican Party that had, in truth, already been having a problem with their party nominee. These critics of the same party are trying to distance themselves as quickly and as far from Trump as is humanly possible.

I will admit, this is a tough one. I don't want to defend Trump's comments and language either. But it certainly isn't like we have never heard it before. I know; it is indeed despicable!! And Trump was not my choice in the primaries.  My case against Trump was that we want our Presidential candidate to be held to a higher standard than anyone else. And that is perfectly acceptable to desire that! Really a President should be above all the fray! But (and that is a mighty big but) we didn't get that!! The people legally and rightfully chose Trump! And we are left to deal with the results! We are not going to do any good by joining the ranks of those that attack him! There are some things that are more important than vice. And that is saving our nation from the free-fall we have been experiencing the last 8 years; because if we don't, we will experience even greater debauchery, corruption and filth.

Yes, I know it is tough! The first thing that came to my mind after I was over my cringing from watching the video, was "wait a minute! He has just RECENTLY claimed to be a new creature in Christ!" There have been rock solid Christians who have vouched and given testimony to that fact. The video was 11 years ago. When does a person get to rise above his past, and be like every other Christian who claims they have been washed whiter than snow by the blood of Jesus? When does someone get to be done with having his past continually thrown back in his face? Now I don't expect grace to be given from non-believers, or the media. That is just what they are gonna do!! But I certainly DO expect it from believers who claim they are born again and given a new life in Jesus. If they get that freedom and grace, why doesn't Trump? Yet some of these Christians in the political arena who have a platform to speak are the first to bash him, like they are somehow holier and more righteous. Wrong. We have the same Savior who washed the same sin. They seem to relish the fact that they can now say, "SEE I TOLD YOU SO!" That is what is most important to them, it seems.

And what about it Christian? Ever laugh at an off-color joke? Ever take part in locker-room banter? What about the television shows we watch? How in the world did Roseanne, Golden Girls, Friends, Will and Grace, and Two Broke Girls (you get the idea) become so popular? Someone is watching those shows. And someone is allowing them to be shown. None of us have room to talk, except by the blood of Jesus. But we won't allow that for Donald Trump.

I've heard some language from Christians. I listened to some pretty despicable words. I have witnessed the books read and television shows that we, Christians accept. We are not much different anymore, than Trump in the things we participate. We only pretend.

And for the record, I absolutely believe that video was a set-up to trap Trump all those years ago. Someone, in my opinion, wanted to keep the tape on file when it would someday be used to embarrass, humiliate or maybe even black-mail Trump. The hug afterward? Come-on! Someone was ready and prepared with audio and cameras. Think that's far-fetched? I can think of other examples that appeared to be set-ups. David Petraeus, for one. Even the video taped affair of Frank Gifford could have been a set-up to silence the conservative Kathie Lee, in my humble opinion. The media is evil and relentless in whom they want to attack.

Why is this like the O.J. case? Because Hillary Clinton has done far worse things than Donald Trump. Trump didn't leave men to die in a far off foreign land when they pleaded time and time again for help! Trump hasn't lied to Congress (a felony) and destroyed and tampered with evidence! Trump hasn't taken foreign contributions through a phony "charitable" foundation.

Further, Hillary Clinton's comments about women during the Clinton "reign" are every bit as offensive as Trump's. Her attacks on the women that her husband had affairs with and even physically attacked were far more dangerous that Trumps childish "locker-room" conversation. But one would never know that by the way the media is spinning it.

Time and situations change people. When does one get to leave the past behind and become a better person? The white-washed tomb becomes clean if we Christians truly believe what we claim.

Just like the terrible outcome of the O.J. Simpson case, we have once again made the things Trump has said 11 years ago something that is far worse than the things Hillary has done, in her most recent political tenure. That case so many years ago hurt our nation and this will, too. We ALL need to rise above this discourse.

Here's to Mark Fuhrman and everyone else who has been undone by a biased media! He rose above the fray and the media attacks that, at the time, were simply regurgitated by our citizens trying to insinuate he was something he was not. The LAPD detective long ago (and ever since) has proved his fine character. Maybe we should give Trump a chance to do that, too! I am pretty sure the media is not capable of that, but I at least expect it from my fellow Christians.
