Back Around

They promised this would come back around...and here it is. Say no to all UN Treaties!

From Parental Rights:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
April 26, 2013
UN Disabilities Treaty on the Move
Contact Members of U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee!
Dear Champion of Parental Rights,
We are hearing from multiple sources that the U.S. Senate’s Foreign Relations Committee is gearing up to hold hearings on the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. The plan is to hold the hearings sometime next month.
The Senate needs to hear from you immediately that this already defeated UN treaty must not be ratified by the U.S. Senate. The United States Senate must not surrender our domestic sovereignty and the care of children with disabilities to unelected, unaccountable UN bureaucrats. Parents know best how to care for their children with disabilities. U.S. law is the gold standard for ensuring that people with disabilities are protected and able to participate in all areas of U.S. society.
The U.S. Senate will be in recess next week, which means that your senators are back in your state meeting with constituents. Please do three things:
  1. Call and email your two U.S. senators and urge them to oppose the UN CRPD. The Capitol Hill Switchboard is 202-224-3121, and you can use this link to email your senators.
  2. Find out if there is a constituent meeting in your area, or see if you can visit your U.S. senators while they are on recess. You can visit our States Page, click on your state, and then click on your senators to find their personal webpage.
  3. Please forward this email to your friends and family, and educate them about the dangers that this UN treaty poses to parental rights, homeschool freedom, and our nation’s sovereignty.
Your message to your senators can be as simple as the following:
“I urge you to oppose the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. This treaty surrenders U.S. sovereignty to unelected UN bureaucrats and will threaten parental care of children with disabilities. Our nation already has laws to protect Americans with disabilities. This treaty is unnecessary and will hurt families by giving bureaucrats the power to decide what is in the best interests of a child with disabilities, not the child’s parents.”
To find out more about the CRPD please click here. To read the text of the CRPD please click here.
Thank you for joining with us in this battle to protect our children and our children’s future. You defeated this treaty last year. Standing together, we can defeat this treaty once again.
For liberty,
No Miranda!
Important petition from the American Center for Law and Justice:
Thanks to the courage and persistence of law enforcement, Boston's nightmare has ended. One terrorist is dead, and the other is in custody.
Yet one of the Boston bombers may have received training overseas, and there are reports that a dozen other members of a terrorist cell may be in the country.
And we know that Chechen terrorists have proven to be among the most deadly in the world.
Do we face a greater threat?
The ACLU believes a captured terrorist has the right to remain silent, to “lawyer up” and deny Americans the answers they desperately need.
At the ACLJ, we recognize that unlawful enemy combatants are not common criminals, and our constitutional tradition permits us to hold them and question them until we obtain the information we need. Investigate now - prosecute later.
We need you to speak up. America needs answers. Sign our petition:
Miranda Rights?
The hot question among pundents, right now, is whether to give Miranda Rights to Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, the second suspect in the Boston Marathon Bombings.
I have strong distinct feelings about this, as do others; and we are going to see sincere splits among conservatives, on this issue.  Looking forward, it seems only fair that as a US citizen, this man should be offered his Miranda Rights.  After all, we wouldn't want the government or law enforcement to take advantage of innocent citizens at some point, in this way.  Those of us that respect and uphold the US Constitution, rightfully do not want our freedoms to be infringed.
However, there is a bit more to look at in this situation than simply what we see on the surface. We are told there is no precedent for a situation such as this.  But the truth of the matter, there is.  Traitors or spies in World War II were understood to have revoked their rights as citizens, more recently in Afghanistan a citizen was treated as an enemy combatant, and recently - with a bit of a different situation - the drone attack on Anwar al Awlaki recently in Yemen. John Yoo further set precedence in regard to Miranda in that incident.  Newt Gingrich, in agreement eloquently explains the situation in one of his newsletters:
Congress gave the president the authority to use “all necessary and appropriate force” force against Al Qaeda in 2001. Anyone engaged in war against the United States, whether an American citizen or not, is subject to the use of force by the U.S. As John Yoo put it this week, "American citizens who join the enemy do not enjoy a roving legal force-field that immunizes them from military reprisal."
President Obama was entirely within his rights to take action against a top-ranking member of a group that has declared war on the U.S., and who was actively seeking to launch new attacks against this country.
President Obama's legal advisors unanimously agreed.
In addition to eliminating an important figure in the Al Qaeda leadership, Awlaki's killing might be good news in one other regard. I hope it represents a concession by the Obama administration that the view the Left has championed for years—that terrorism is just a "law enforcement" issue—is fundamentally wrong.
This is a war. Now at least one of the administration's legal opinions admits that fact.
In our documentary America at Risk: The War With No Name, Callista and I discussed the refusal of the Left to speak honestly about the enemy we are at war with. Our number one example in that movie was Major Hasan, the Fort Hood Shooter inspired by Alwaki. The section on Alwaki below shows exactly why we must consider this a war:
The ACLU and others accusing the President are in complete denial about the nature of the threat we face. American citizenship cannot be used as protection with which to wage war against America.
The truth of the matter, certain facts change things in this situation dynamically. The Tsarnaev brothers were without a doubt enemy combatants and need to be treated as such.  Furthermore, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev became a US Citizen only a year ago under false pretenses.  He had no intentions of honoring and upholding the Constitution as he took an oath to do. He became a US citizen on September 11, 2012.  Come on!  His citizenship is a sham and should be revoked.
But other than all of that, regardless of how I feel on the subject, Jay Sekulow, of the American Center for Law and Justice, explains the concerns far better in this interview:
Please watch.     Where will Boston Marathon suspect be brought to justice?
Common Sense
I really tire of the distinction continually being made in the media between international terrorists and domestic or “home-grown” terrorists.  Yeah, I know it does matter.  And I will be furious to hear media or government officials call the attack at the Boston Marathon an attack of domestic terrorism.  But really, the truth is, terrorism is terrorism!!
Still, I was extremely pleased to hear Mark Furhman on Fox News Channel the other night say: “This is not domestic terrorism; this is international terrorism."  I always appreciate what Mr. Furhman has to say.  Sometimes it seems he is one of the few commentators left with any common sense.
My frustration?  It comes from my deeply held belief that if we are seeing what looks like domestic terrorism, it is fueled, funded and orchestrated by international radical Muslim terrorists.
Early on, I heard Mr. Furhman inform Fox viewers that the type of bomb used was the same as those used in attacks in Israel.  Well, that certainly narrows the playing field of those responsible, doesn’t it?  I wanted to yell, “Well, duh!” to anyone that would say otherwise!
As news filtered in, we learned more about the two suspects involved; common sense will tell us that these two men were not working alone – regardless of what those in the liberal media would have us believe.  That is another reason I appreciate bold, to-the-point commentators such as Fox News consultant, Mark Furhman. A little common sense on the issue is imperative!
“They are too light skinned,” I heard doubters say. ”They couldn’t be Muslim." I wish Chris Kyle, the most lethal sniper in American history and author of the best selling book American Sniper was here to tell us about his experience with light skinned terrorists! If not for his quick discernment and experience Chechens would have had his life much earlier. (Not too sure they weren’t involved anyway, but that post is for another day.)  Chechen radicals - among others - are definitely here  in America.
The fertilizer factory fire in west Texas? One of the most important rules of law enforcement investigation is a coincidence is never just a coincidence without being investigated further.
That would once again bring me back to Chief Chris Kyle...coincidence after coincidence. But no response from the Obama administration on this man's tragic death...Ok, maybe I'm getting a bit off track here, but I do have deep concerns about this patriot's connections and untimely death.
Next, to defy common sense even a bit further, Alex Jones comes out saying this was a “false flag”. Oh brother! Now Americans are going to get sucked into this man’s lunacy.  Jones too quickly loves to blame America for everything! Jones claims the U.S. government was behind the Oklahoma City bombing and the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks in order to promote legislation that will aid in bringing about a New World Order. While I believe there is a need to be concerned about this particular administration, the "Truther's" mantra spewed without concrete facts does nothing more than take any responsibility from those who are truly responsible. We do have an enemy, America!  The Bible tells us so!
But more to the point, we are fools if we believe these two most recent terrorists acted alone. It was much too sophisticated, much too effective to not have well-funded backing and direction.
Fueling my belief that we should be further concerned about the Obama administration, we learn that Saudi nationalist, Abdul Rahman Ali Alharbi was deported soon after being named as a person of interest. This is where it gets beyond sensible. This man has obvious, well-known ties to Al Qaeda.  In my opinion, those involved in and responsible for allowing this man’s deportation should be tried for treason.
Finally, please read this article by Glenn Beck.  Now while I don’t always agree with everything Mr. Beck says and does, this is probably one of the most important things you will read this week.  There is a distinct difference between what Alex Jones says and does, and what Glenn Beck says in this article.  Glenn accurately recognizes and defines our enemy...and it ISN'T our government; though this administration has a whole lot of questions to answer. God Bless Mr. Beck for demanding it!
I agree with Glenn Beck in his recent article when he says this may change America forever, but Glenn does leave out one important thing; and that is: we do serve a God who is in control. I am not yet hopeless in regard to America.
It doesn’t matter where these terrorists come from. It never has! Jihad unites them and they are everywhere. What matters is their goal – to kill the infidel; to destroy the “Big Satan” and the “Little Satan”; that would be the United States and Israel, respectively.
One other important note:  there is going to be the issue of “Miranda Rights” for the young man taken into custody. Common sense, America? We need it more now than ever! The younger brother in custody IS an enemy combatant and should NOT be “mirandized” or “lawyered up”! If this administration takes the position that he is a US Citizen and entitled to the rights of a citizen, we certainly aid those responsible for these atrocities.
"If we don't believe we are at war, we are going to be hit again and again." ~ Senator Lindsey Graham.
Yeah, I know. I almost hate to quote Senator Graham after some of his antics. I guess this is a clear example where one can be right on some things and wrong on others. We are in definite need of some common sense.
The Hal Lindsey Report ~ April 19th 2013
Information we all need to know:
April 19th, 2013
This week on 'The Hal Lindsey Report'
Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas, is a tiny church that is not affiliated with any recognized Baptist denomination. However, it receives more media attention than even the largest Baptist groups.
Why? Well, the 40 or so members of the church are famous because they loudly protest at the funerals of fallen American soldiers. They display disgusting posters proclaiming that the soldiers have been struck down by God for defending a nation that tolerates homosexuality.
The protesters spew vile speech and a level of vitriol that's hard to fathom. And it's not reserved just for fallen warriors, according to Westboro, God hates homosexuals, happy people, and anyone who doesn't believe the way they do.
Christians universally and unequivocally condemn Westboro Baptist Church, but the media covers that one tiny congregation as though they represent all Christians.
Critics of Bible-believing Christians love to paint us all with the Westboro Baptist brush.
Recently, a book reviewer at The New York Times stated that for conservative Christians, "loving Jesus means hating gay people." He named names, too. He cited The Family Research Council, "The 700 Club," the United States Conference of Bishops, and Westboro Baptist Church.
Notice that Westboro Baptist is listed as an equal among people and national organizations that have absolutely nothing in common with them. But this is the kind of carefully crafted false equivalence that we've come to expect fromThe New York Times and are beginning to notice from many other members of the various media.
Most of us in the faith community have basically ignored the loonies at Westboro over the last few years, but the Leftist media hasn't. And now we're starting to see the effects of being painted with the Westboro brush.
Recently, a US Army Reserve training presentation on "Extremism" listed "Evangelical Christianity" as the number one extremist group in America. We beat out al-Qaeda, Hamas, the Ku Klux Klan, ultra-orthodox Jews, Catholics, and Mormons.
According to the instructor, in view of these designations, Army regulations prohibit reservists from attending an evangelical church service or a Catholic mass, giving their tithe, or teaching a Sunday School class.
When information about this presentation became public, a spokesperson for the US Army quickly tried to distance the regular Army from this "single individual" who created the training presentation. And we gave the Army the benefit of the doubt.
Then, we learned that last August a lieutenant colonel at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, sent an e-mail to the rest of the base leadership. In it, he sought to educate his underlings "on some of the groups out there that do not share our Army Values." He emphatically stated that Christian Right leaders are "anti-gay... have engaged in the crudest name-calling, calling LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual, and Transgender) people... 'perverts' with 'filthy habits' who seek to snatch the children of straight parents and 'convert' them to gay sex." He said, "They have disseminated disparaging 'facts' about gays that are simply untrue."
He listed three organizations as examples: "Family Research Council, the American Family Association, and Westboro Baptist Church."
The Colonel even went so far as to share with his juniors what he portrayed as Dr. James Dobson's incendiary views. He wrote an entire paragraph on those views and implied he was quoting Dr. Dobson. In reality, only three of the words were Dobson's, and from many years before.
Former presidential candidate Gary Bauer observed, "Just 18 months after the repeal of 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell,' we have gone from tolerance for homosexuals serving in the military to intolerance for men and women of faith serving in the military."
Folks, this is just the beginning. For decades now, the Left has been insidiously crafting and pursuing a strategy to paint men and women of faith as nuts and weirdos who should be ignored. Now, they've moved into the phase of labeling us as "extremists" who should be feared and controlled. I'm not a conspiracy nut, this is reality. All you have to do is watch the nightly newscasts, read the daily papers, and listen to government spokespersons.
Get ready. It won't be long before you will be challenged on your beliefs. It's already happening to some of you right now. But, maybe sooner than later, we may have to choose between our religious beliefs and the politically correct and acceptable thoughts and attitudes approved by the society, the courts, and the bureaucrats.
What will you choose?
Also on this week's program, I'll discuss one of the most horrifying and heartbreaking criminal cases, I believe, in American history. It's the trial of Dr. Kermit Gosnell, a notorious Philadelphia abortion butcher. Although he's being tried for killing seven babies outside the womb and killing a woman when he botched her abortion, witnesses say he killed as many as a hundred more babies who were born alive. The report to the grand jury described his filthy clinic as a "baby charnel house." That means a "bone repository chamber" filled with the remains of unborn, or newly born, children.
As horrible as this is, though, the greater crime may be the deliberate cover-up by the mainstream media. You've probably heard nothing about this trial, even though this man is one of the worst serial killers in our history. Why? Because none of the network news shows have reported on it in the last three months. Further, none of the major newspapers or periodicals have reported on it in months -- if at all.
Again, why? Because if the public became aware of the horrors being routinely perpetrated by abortion butchers across America, public opinion might turn against the practice of abortion. And, as you know, abortion is the Left's ultimate sacred cow. So the media works overtime to spike any reporting about the horrors being revealed in Philadelphia.
I'll also discuss what's happening in North Korea; how information our government has suppressed is now accelerating the timetable for Israel to attack Iran's nuclear program; and how the men who are promising America's allies that we will protect them are the same men who tried to prevent America's missile defense system from seeing the light of day.
I'll also say goodbye this week to one of America's greatest and truest friends.
Friends, please pray for the victims and families of the bombings at the Boston Marathon on Monday and the massive explosion in West, Texas, on Wednesday evening. Only God can bring solace, peace, and healing in moments of great grief and uncertainty like these.
Pray also for the first responders and law enforcement officials who place themselves in harm's way to rescue the victims and protect the rest of us. In both of these tragedies, some of those first responders gave their lives. We will be forever indebted to them and their families for their sacrifice.
Folks, trust me, it's a crazy world and it's getting more dangerous by the minute. This week's tragic events emphasize how fragile and uncertain life is. And how quickly and unexpectedly it can end. Don't waste another day. Make sure you and your family and friends are ready to leave this place when Jesus returns for His own. There will be no warning. It will just happen. And when it does, you'll be eternally grateful you were ready to go!
The Hal Lindsey Report - April 5, 2013
This week on 'The Hal Lindsey Report'
Cyprus is a small island in the Mediterranean Sea. It lies just 200 miles off the coast of Israel. According to scripture, Barnabas hailed from Cyprus. It was there that Paul began his first missionary journey.
At various times, Cyprus has been in the news because it is claimed by both the Greeks and the Turks. In fact, the Turkish Cypriots live in the northern part of the island and the Greek Cypriots in the south. They even have a UN-supervised line of demarcation that separates the two.
In the last few years, large gas and oil reserves have been discovered off the coast of Cyprus. This has focused international attention on the tiny republic and caused a great deal of internal strife over the distribution of the newfound revenues.
Recently, Cyprus has been in the news for quite another reason. One that will have repercussions that may one day be felt here in America.
As a nation, Cyprus, and more particularly its banking sector, have fallen on hard times. So hard, in fact, that without a bailout loan of many billions, the nation faces bankruptcy.
To make a long and painful story short, a group of money powers known as "The Troika," which consists of the European Union, the European Central Bank, and the International Monetary Fund, agreed to help the island nation.
But, unlike their bailouts of other European nations like Spain or Greece, this time the Troika demanded more than a tightening of the belt or an increase in income tax revenues or the addition of a national value-added tax. This time, they demanded that Cyprus arbitrarily invade the bank accounts of ordinary citizens and confiscate 7 to 10% in order to help repay the debt.
Cyprus is as an offshore financial shelter for many Russians, like the Caymans for many Americans. Russian president Vladimir Putin was furious over the demand. He protested loudly and angrily. So did the Cypriots themselves.
In fact, their House of Representatives voted to reject the imposition of a tax on smaller accounts, but faced with impending default, acquiesced to a tax on larger accounts. Strangely, so did Putin. In fact, for some reason he agreed to keep his mouth shut when the dust settled and up to 60% of savings accounts in excess of 100,000 Euros was confiscated by the government.
To prevent a run on the banks that would collapse the system, the government abruptly closed Cyprus's banks. What was supposed to be 24 hours turned into two weeks!
What if -- without warning -- you were told you couldn't withdraw money from your bank for two weeks?
Can you think of any action the world powers could take that would send a greater chill through the world banking and financial sectors than arbitrary confiscation of private funds to pay debts run up by socialist politicians? And we've all seen what can happen when there are crises in the banking and financial markets!
Will that happen here? To paraphrase our nation's founders, what Big Brother gives, Big Brother can take away! Unfortunately, it's already happening, but through cleverly disguised "fees" and "account charges." Even more subtly, the same thing is happening to us when the Federal Reserve System prints money backed by nothing and floods the markets. Every dollar printed causes the value of every dollar in your wallet to decrease. The Treasury agents might as well show up at your house and demand that you give them your wallet!
You may be asking yourself, "How does this concern me?" Well, even though the economy of Cyprus is smaller than the smallest state in our union, it's conceivable that a collapse there could trigger other collapses in the Eurozone and spark a complete meltdown. If nothing else, the whole affair is undermining already shaky confidence in European banks and financial markets.
All it takes is a trigger, a lead domino to fall and start the whole chain collapsing. This crisis illustrates just how close we may be to the final meltdown that will open the door to the Antichrist.
President Obama's recent trip to the Middle East proved to be nothing more than a PR tour comprised of photo-ops and displays of "feel good" statesmanship. He made some admirable pronouncements about the strength of the friendship between Israel and the United States. He also issued some stern warnings to Iran, but nothing we've not heard before.
Probably the most important incidents that occurred during the trip were largely ignored by the media. The President's visit to a display of the Dead Sea Scrolls seemed to prompt an admission that the Jews' ties to Israel extend into ancient history. This is something of a significant development for the President. He has previously seemed to believe that the Jews are in Israel as the world's sympathetic response to the Holocaust.
Second, in a rather awkwardly contrived moment, the President apparently forced Prime Minister Netanyahu into issuing an apology of sorts to Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan for the Mavi Mamara incident during the 2010 Egyptian-Israeli blockade of Gaza. It caused the deaths of nine Turkish militants. But maybe some good will come of it if it eases tensions between the two former allies.
Finally, last week the Supreme Court held hearings on the constitutionality of two cases related to same-sex marriage. Proposition 8 is an amendment to California's constitution, duly passed by its citizens, that restricts marriage to a man and a woman. The second is a federal statute overwhelmingly passed by both houses of Congress and signed into law by President Bill Clinton in 1996. It's known as the Defense of Marriage Act, or DOMA. It effectively requires inter-state recognition of marriages only between a man and a woman. It also limits federal benefits only to opposite-sex marriages.
The factor that makes these two cases unique is that both governments who are charged with enforcing these laws -- California and the federal government -- refuse to defend them in court. And some of the justices on the highest court believe that the citizens themselves have no "standing" to defend them.
Though we probably won't know the Court's rulings for several months, this could be a watershed moment in our nation's history. Obviously, if they strike down both of those laws, it will mean that same-sex marriage will be legal throughout the nation. But even if they decline to rule for "technical" reasons, and allow the current lower court ruling voiding Proposition 8 to stand, it will mean that every law passed by a majority of citizens of any state can be annulled simply by the elected officials refusing to defend them in court.
That means that we may be on the verge of a complete takeover of the legislative and electoral process by the US court system -- and unscrupulous politicians. God help us if that happens.
I believe this issue -- the obliteration of the divine institution of marriage between a man and a woman (which has been practiced by all civilizations for thousands of years) and the subsequent acceptance and celebration of same-sex marriage -- may well be the issue that finally brings physical persecution to Christians in the United States. We are fast approaching the moment when we must decide to stand up and speak the truth of the Bible, and bear the consequences, or pointedly deny God's Word and accept a concept that is, as Justice Alito noted, "newer than cell phones or the internet."
Are you ready to stand up and be counted? I'll begin that discussion this week and continue it in greater depth next week.
