The Hal Lindsey Report ~ April 19th 2013

Information we all need to know:

April 19th, 2013

This week on 'The Hal Lindsey Report'
Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas, is a tiny church that is not affiliated with any recognized Baptist denomination. However, it receives more media attention than even the largest Baptist groups.

Why? Well, the 40 or so members of the church are famous because they loudly protest at the funerals of fallen American soldiers. They display disgusting posters proclaiming that the soldiers have been struck down by God for defending a nation that tolerates homosexuality.

The protesters spew vile speech and a level of vitriol that's hard to fathom. And it's not reserved just for fallen warriors, according to Westboro, God hates homosexuals, happy people, and anyone who doesn't believe the way they do.

Christians universally and unequivocally condemn Westboro Baptist Church, but the media covers that one tiny congregation as though they represent all Christians.

Critics of Bible-believing Christians love to paint us all with the Westboro Baptist brush.

Recently, a book reviewer at The New York Times stated that for conservative Christians, "loving Jesus means hating gay people." He named names, too. He cited The Family Research Council, "The 700 Club," the United States Conference of Bishops, and Westboro Baptist Church.

Notice that Westboro Baptist is listed as an equal among people and national organizations that have absolutely nothing in common with them. But this is the kind of carefully crafted false equivalence that we've come to expect fromThe New York Times and are beginning to notice from many other members of the various media.

Most of us in the faith community have basically ignored the loonies at Westboro over the last few years, but the Leftist media hasn't. And now we're starting to see the effects of being painted with the Westboro brush.

Recently, a US Army Reserve training presentation on "Extremism" listed "Evangelical Christianity" as the number one extremist group in America. We beat out al-Qaeda, Hamas, the Ku Klux Klan, ultra-orthodox Jews, Catholics, and Mormons.

According to the instructor, in view of these designations, Army regulations prohibit reservists from attending an evangelical church service or a Catholic mass, giving their tithe, or teaching a Sunday School class.

When information about this presentation became public, a spokesperson for the US Army quickly tried to distance the regular Army from this "single individual" who created the training presentation. And we gave the Army the benefit of the doubt.

Then, we learned that last August a lieutenant colonel at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, sent an e-mail to the rest of the base leadership. In it, he sought to educate his underlings "on some of the groups out there that do not share our Army Values." He emphatically stated that Christian Right leaders are "anti-gay... have engaged in the crudest name-calling, calling LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual, and Transgender) people... 'perverts' with 'filthy habits' who seek to snatch the children of straight parents and 'convert' them to gay sex." He said, "They have disseminated disparaging 'facts' about gays that are simply untrue."

He listed three organizations as examples: "Family Research Council, the American Family Association, and Westboro Baptist Church."

The Colonel even went so far as to share with his juniors what he portrayed as Dr. James Dobson's incendiary views. He wrote an entire paragraph on those views and implied he was quoting Dr. Dobson. In reality, only three of the words were Dobson's, and from many years before.

Former presidential candidate Gary Bauer observed, "Just 18 months after the repeal of 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell,' we have gone from tolerance for homosexuals serving in the military to intolerance for men and women of faith serving in the military."

Folks, this is just the beginning. For decades now, the Left has been insidiously crafting and pursuing a strategy to paint men and women of faith as nuts and weirdos who should be ignored. Now, they've moved into the phase of labeling us as "extremists" who should be feared and controlled. I'm not a conspiracy nut, this is reality. All you have to do is watch the nightly newscasts, read the daily papers, and listen to government spokespersons.

Get ready. It won't be long before you will be challenged on your beliefs. It's already happening to some of you right now. But, maybe sooner than later, we may have to choose between our religious beliefs and the politically correct and acceptable thoughts and attitudes approved by the society, the courts, and the bureaucrats.

What will you choose?

Also on this week's program, I'll discuss one of the most horrifying and heartbreaking criminal cases, I believe, in American history. It's the trial of Dr. Kermit Gosnell, a notorious Philadelphia abortion butcher. Although he's being tried for killing seven babies outside the womb and killing a woman when he botched her abortion, witnesses say he killed as many as a hundred more babies who were born alive. The report to the grand jury described his filthy clinic as a "baby charnel house." That means a "bone repository chamber" filled with the remains of unborn, or newly born, children.

As horrible as this is, though, the greater crime may be the deliberate cover-up by the mainstream media. You've probably heard nothing about this trial, even though this man is one of the worst serial killers in our history. Why? Because none of the network news shows have reported on it in the last three months. Further, none of the major newspapers or periodicals have reported on it in months -- if at all.

Again, why? Because if the public became aware of the horrors being routinely perpetrated by abortion butchers across America, public opinion might turn against the practice of abortion. And, as you know, abortion is the Left's ultimate sacred cow. So the media works overtime to spike any reporting about the horrors being revealed in Philadelphia.

I'll also discuss what's happening in North Korea; how information our government has suppressed is now accelerating the timetable for Israel to attack Iran's nuclear program; and how the men who are promising America's allies that we will protect them are the same men who tried to prevent America's missile defense system from seeing the light of day.

I'll also say goodbye this week to one of America's greatest and truest friends.

Friends, please pray for the victims and families of the bombings at the Boston Marathon on Monday and the massive explosion in West, Texas, on Wednesday evening. Only God can bring solace, peace, and healing in moments of great grief and uncertainty like these.

Pray also for the first responders and law enforcement officials who place themselves in harm's way to rescue the victims and protect the rest of us. In both of these tragedies, some of those first responders gave their lives. We will be forever indebted to them and their families for their sacrifice.

Folks, trust me, it's a crazy world and it's getting more dangerous by the minute. This week's tragic events emphasize how fragile and uncertain life is. And how quickly and unexpectedly it can end. Don't waste another day. Make sure you and your family and friends are ready to leave this place when Jesus returns for His own. There will be no warning. It will just happen. And when it does, you'll be eternally grateful you were ready to go!

God Bless,

Hal Lindsey
